Low doses of paclitaxel potently induce apoptosis in human retinoblastoma Y79 cells by up-regulating E2F1.
2008
Paclitaxel (PTX) is an anticancer drug currently in phase II clinical trials. This study shows for the first time that low doses of PTX (5 nM) potently induce apoptosis in human retinoblastoma Y79 cells. The effect of PTX is accompanied by a potent induction of E2F1 which appears to play a critical role in the effects induced by PTX. PTX induced a dose- and time-dependent effect, with G2/M arrest, cyclines A, E and B1 accumulation and a marked modification in the status of Cdc2-cyclin B1 complex, the major player of the G2/M checkpoint. Apoptosis followed G2/M arrest. An early and prolonged increase in p53 expression with its stabilization by phosphorylation and acetylation and its nuclear …
Aneuploid IMR90 cells induced by depletion of pRB, DNMT1 and MAD2 show a common gene expression signature
2019
Chromosome segregation defects lead to aneuploidy which is a major feature of solid tumors. How diploid cells face chromosome mis-segregation and how aneuploidy is tolerated in tumor cells are not completely defined yet. Thus, an important goal of cancer genetics is to identify gene networks that underlie aneuploidy and are involved in its tolerance. To this aim, we induced aneuploidy in IMR90 human primary cells by depleting pRB, DNMT1 and MAD2 and analyzed their gene expression profiles by microarray analysis. Bioinformatic analysis revealed a common gene expression profile of IMR90 cells that became aneuploid. Gene Set Enrichment Analysis (GSEA) also revealed gene-sets/pathways that are …
Internal inverse limits and retractions
2015
We establish equivalences between compacta that admit a sequence of retractions that converge uniformly to the identity map and compacta that are inverse limits on subcompacta with retractions for bonding maps. We give partial answers to questions of Charatonik and Prajs, and of Krasinkiewicz. Our results are related to and use results from another paper of the authors \cite{mp}.

Quantized Dissensus in Networks of Agents subject to Death and Duplication
2012
Dissensus is a modeling framework for networks of dynamic agents in competition for scarce resources. Originally inspired by biological cells behaviors, it fits also marketing, finance and many other application areas. Competition is often unstable in the sense that strong agents, those having access to large resources, gain more and more resources at the expense of weak agents. Thus, strong agents duplicate when reaching a critical amount of resources, whereas weak agents die when loosing all their resources. To capture all these phenomena we introduce systems with a discrete time gossip and unstable state dynamics interrupted by discrete events affecting the network topology. Invariancy o…
Genetic basis of human complement C4A deficiency. Detection of a point mutation leading to nonexpression.
1993
Abstract The fourth component of the human complement system (C4) is coded for by two genes, C4A and C4B, located within the MHC. Null alleles of C4 (C4Q0) are defined by the absence of C4 protein in plasma. These null alleles are due either to large gene deletions or to nonexpression of the respective genes. In a previous study, evidence was obtained for nonexpressed defective genes at the C4A locus, and for gene conversion at the C4B locus. To further characterize the molecular basis of these non-expressed C4A genes, we selected nine pairs of PCR primers from flanking genomic intron sequences to amplify all 41 exons from individuals with a defective C4A gene. The amplified products were s…
On-site Experimental Study of HCFC-22 Substitution with HFCs Refrigerants
2012
Abstract The European Regulation no 2037/2000 has banned manufacturing HCFC refrigerants from January 1st 2010, although its use is allowed up to 2015 if the fluids come from a recycling process. This situation creates the need for developing new working fluids to replace the HCFC in the refrigeration plants now in operation. Among all the HCFCs the R22 is the most widely used in a wide range of applications, especially in air conditioning. This paper presents the results of an experimental analysis comparing the performance of a vapour compression refrigerating unit operating with R22, and its performance in comparison to some HFCs fluids, substituting the former. In particular, the plant …
Existence and uniqueness of solution to several kinds of differential equations using the coincidence theory
2015
The purpose of this article is to study the existence of a coincidence point for two mappings defined on a nonempty set and taking values on a Banach space using the fixed point theory for nonexpansive mappings. Moreover, this type of results will be applied to obtain the existence of solutions for some classes of ordinary differential equations. Ministerio de Economía y Competitividad Junta de Andalucía
Implementation of Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) and Importance Performance Analysis (IPA) in Testing the Ease and Usability of E-wallet Applicati…
2021
Digital payment innovation is currently increasingly needed by the community, especially in making non-cash payment transactions. The purpose of this research is to know and measure the ease and usefulness of e-wallet digital wallet services, especially in the GoPay application. The population in this study are users of the Go-Pay service on the GO-JEK platform. The sample of this study consisted of 124 respondents from distributing questionnaires in Depok, West Java using a modified Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) based on existing references. The data processing in this research uses Importance Performance Analysis (IPA) analysis. The results show that based on the gap analysis, it is f…
Decoding algorithm for HL-codes and performance of the DHH-cryptosystem -- a candidate for post-quantum cryptography
2023
We give a decoding algorithm for a class of error-correcting codes, which can be used in the DHH-cryptosystem, which is a candidate for post-quantum cryptography, since it is of McEliece type. Furthermore, we implement the encryption and decryption algorithms for this cryptosystem and investigate its performance.
