Task Planner for Robotic Disassembly of Electric Vehicle Battery Pack
2021
The rapidly growing deployment of Electric Vehicles (EV) put strong demands on the development of Lithium-Ion Batteries (LIBs) but also into its dismantling process, a necessary step for circular economy. The aim of this study is therefore to develop an autonomous task planner for the dismantling of EV Lithium-Ion Battery pack to a module level through the design and implementation of a computer vision system. This research contributes to moving closer towards fully automated EV battery robotic dismantling, an inevitable step for a sustainable world transition to an electric economy. For the proposed task planner the main functions consist in identifying LIB components and their locations, …
Nutritional and microbiological quality of tiger nut tubers (Cyperus esculentus), derived plant-based and lactic fermented beverages
2018
International audience; Tiger nut (Cyperus esculentus) is a tuber that can be consumed raw or processed into beverages. Its nutritional composition shows a high content of lipid and dietary fiber, close to those of nuts, and a high content of starch, like in other tubers. Tiger nuts also contain high levels of phosphorus, calcium, and phenolic compounds, which contribute to their antioxidant activity. From those characteristics, tiger nuts and derived beverages are particularly relevant to limit food insecurity in regions where the plant can grow. In Europe and United States, the tiger nut derived beverages are of high interest as alternatives to milk and for gluten-free diets. Fermentation…
Self-reported consumption of wine and other alcoholic beverages in a German wine area
2013
Petra Fronk,1 Maria Blettner,2 Heinz Decker1 1Institute for Molecular Biophysics, Johannes Gutenberg University of Mainz, Mainz, Germany; 2Institute for Medical Biostatistics, Epidemiology and Informatics, Johannes Gutenberg University of Mainz, Mainz, Germany Purpose: To describe the consumption of alcoholic beverages in a German wine area, with special attention to the number of people drinking more than the tolerable upper alcohol intake level (TUAL). Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted using a mailed questionnaire, to investigate the weekly consumption of wine, beer, and spirits during the preceding 12 months in Mainz, the state capital of Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. The a…
Leaders – A Determinant Role
2016
Abstract No matter of the business sector the company plays in, today leadership is essential in order to be successful, because when we speak about leadership we think about the power that is the result of the connection between a leader and his followers. Today it is important to have good managers that organize and conduct the company in order to achieve the objectives, but it is more important that the managers to be good leaders that have the power to influence other in participating for achieving companies goals.
Influence And Leadership
2015
Abstract Because leadership is known as the process of influencing others and not only that but determining them to act in order to achieve goals, the article above emphasizes the importance of communication in this process. By understanding the essence of leadership, managers will be effective communicators and so more effectively leading their organizations through projects.
Manager versus Leader. Why Are Both Roles Valuable?
2018
The confluence between a good manager and a good leader stands at the intersection of skills, strategic thinking and ethical integrity specific to the manager and the emotional intelligence, power of persuasion, empathy, passion and open communication specific to the leader. In this context, the present paper’s objective is to highlight the interconnection between the management / managers and leadership/leaders.
TEACHING IN BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION: A CUSTOMIZED PROCESS DRIVEN BY TECHNOLOGICAL INNOVATIONS
2020
DinosARs - Learning with the help of augmented reality
2019
Master's thesis Multimedia and Educational Technology MM500 - University of Agder 2019 A two-dimensional way of interacting with learning material has been the norm fora long time. We’ve read books, taken notes and been taught from a blackboard sinceyouth, and has for most of us worked out just fine, but we are all different. We havethose visual learners, those who learn through seeing things, auditory learners, thosewho learn best through hearing and kinesthetic learners, those who learn by doing.Augmented reality can provide many unique affordances that can deliver a learningexperience that can benefit all learning types. Augmented reality can utilize both vi-suals, sound, and interactivi…
Search for pair production of first or second generation leptoquarks in proton-proton collisions at sqrt(s)=7 TeV using the ATLAS detector at the LHC
2011
This paper describes searches for the pair production of first or second generation scalar leptoquarks using 35 pb−1 of proton-proton collision data recorded by the ATLAS detector at √s=7 TeV. Leptoquarks are searched in events with two oppositely-charged muons or electrons and at least two jets, and in events with one muon or electron, missing transverse momentum and at least two jets. After event selection, the observed yields are consistent with the predicted backgrounds. Leptoquark production is excluded at the 95% CL for masses MLQ<376 (319) GeV and MLQ<422 (362) GeV for first and second generation scalar leptoquarks, respectively, when assuming the branching fraction of a leptoquark…
