Evaluation of the Fermentation Dynamics of Commercial Baker’s Yeast in Presence of Pistachio Powder to Produce Lysine-Enriched Breads
2019
The present work was carried out to evaluate the microbiological, physicochemical, and sensory characteristics of fortified pistachio breads. Pistachio powder (5% w/w) was added to flour or semolina and fermented by a commercial baker’s yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae). Pistachio powder did not influence the biological leavening of the doughs. The kinetics of pH and total titratable acidity (TTA) during dough fermentation showed that the leavening process occurred similarly for all trials. The concentration of yeasts increased during fermentation and reached levels of 108 CFU/g after 2 h. Pistachio powder decreased the height and softness of the final breads and increased cell density…

Drift Time Measurement in the ATLAS Liquid Argon Electromagnetic Calorimeter using Cosmic Muons
2010
The ionization signals in the liquid argon of the ATLAS electromagnetic calorimeter are studied in detail using cosmic muons. In particular, the drift time of the ionization electrons is measured and used to assess the intrinsic uniformity of the calorimeter gaps and estimate its impact on the constant term of the energy resolution. The drift times of electrons in the cells of the second layer of the calorimeter are uniform at the level of 1.3% in the barrel and 2.8% in the endcaps. This leads to an estimated contribution to the constant term of (0.29-0.04+0.05)% in the barrel and (0.54-0.04+0.06)% in the endcaps. The same data are used to measure the drift velocity of ionization electrons …
Separation of presynaptic Cav2 and Cav1 channel function in synaptic vesicle exo- and endocytosis by the membrane anchored Ca2+ pump PMCA
2021
Significance Synaptic vesicle (SV) release from presynaptic terminals requires nanometer precise control of action potential (AP)–triggered calcium influx through voltage-gated calcium channels (VGCCs). SV recycling also depends on calcium signals, though in different spatiotemporal domains. Mechanisms for separate control of SV release and recycling by AP-triggered calcium influx remain elusive. Here, we demonstrate largely independent regulation of release and recycling by two different populations of VGCCs (Cav2, Cav1), identify Cav1 as one of potentially multiple calcium entry routes for endocytosis regulation, and show functional separation of simultaneous calcium signals in the nanome…
Parameter Matching Analysis of Hydraulic Hybrid Excavators Based on Dynamic Programming Algorithm
2013
Published version of an article in the journal: Journal of Applied Mathematics. Also available from the publisher at: http://dx.doi.org/10.1155/2013/615608 Open Access In order to meet the energy saving requirement of the excavator, hybrid excavators are becoming the hot spot for researchers. The initial problem is to match the parameter of each component, because the system is tending to be more complicated due to the introduction of the accumulator. In this paper, firstly, a new architecture is presented which is hydraulic hybrid excavator based on common pressure rail combined switched function (HHES). Secondly, the general principle of dynamic programming algorithm (DPA) is explained. T…
Hvordan påvirkes arbeidsprosesser ved innføring av EPJ og velferdsteknologi på sykehjem
2018
Masteroppgave i helse- og sosialinformatikk HSI500 - Universitetet i Agder 2018 In order to be better equipped in the challenges of the future, with an increasing number of elderly and fewer professionals to care for them, the government emphasizes the importance of service innovation in the healthcare sector. Change is required to gain socioeconomic benefits, particularly in work processes. More frequent and better use of electronic medical record (EMR) and welfare technology is necessary. The purpose of this study was to bring information and knowledge about how using technology in the nursing homes has transformed the work processes. Qualitative, exploratory method with semi-structured i…

The acquisition of verb movement in first language acquisition : comparison of english and norwegian
2013
Master thesis in english- University of Agder 2013 In the previous sections I compared the findings of researchers studying several different child languages. One language, child English, does not provide compelling evidence of the presence of the functional layers during the early multi-word stage (1;6-2;0). Other languages, child French and German, provide strong evidence of the presence of one functional layer above the VP but no (child French) or only ambiguous tendencies regarding the presence of the second functional layer above the VP (child German). The third group of languages, child Swedish and child Norwegian, seem to show compelling evidence of the 71 presence of two functional …
