Search for Multimessenger Sources of Gravitational Waves and High-energy Neutrinos with Advanced LIGO during Its First Observing Run, ANTARES, and Ic…
2019
[EN] Astrophysical sources of gravitational waves, such as binary neutron star and black hole mergers or core-collapse supernovae, can drive relativistic outflows, giving rise to non-thermal high-energy emission. High-energy neutrinos are signatures of such outflows. The detection of gravitational waves and high-energy neutrinos from common sources could help establish the connection between the dynamics of the progenitor and the properties of the out¿ow. We searched for associated emission of gravitational waves and high-energy neutrinos from astrophysical transients with minimal assumptions using data from Advanced LIGO from its first observing run O1, and data from the ANTARES and IceCub…

Accreting X-Ray pulsars. The high energy picture
2007
Neural Network Emulation of Synthetic Hyperspectral Sentinel-2-Like Imagery With Uncertainty
2023
Hyperspectral satellite imagery provides highly-resolved spectral information for large areas and can provide vital information. However, only a few imaging spectrometer missions are currently in operation. Aiming to generate synthetic satellite-based hyperspectral imagery potentially covering any region, we explored the possibility of applying statistical learning, i.e. emulation. Based on the relationship of a Sentinel-2 (S2) scene and a hyperspectral HyPlant airborne image, this work demonstrates the possibility to emulate a hyperspectral S2-like image. We tested the role of different machine learning regression algorithms (MLRA) and varied the image-extracted training dataset size. We f…
Assessing the electricity consumption of outdoor lighting systems in the presence of automatic control: The OL-BAC factors method
2020
Abstract Building automation systems are able to influence significantly buildings’ energy performance. The BAC factors method, presented for the first time by the International Standard EN 15232, is the most used and simple instrument for evaluating the impact of such systems in terms of reduction of the electrical and thermal energy consumption of buildings services. Nevertheless, Standard EN 15232 does not take into consideration the automation of lighting systems serving buildings’ external areas like passages, gardens, entrance walkways, etc. In some cases, such areas can be very extended and, as a consequence, responsible for a not negligible percentage of the overall electricity cons…
Lipofuscin Hypothesis of Alzheimer’s Disease
2011
The primary culprit responsible for Alzheimer’s disease (AD) remains unknown. Aβ protein has been identified as the main component of amyloid of senile plaques, the hallmark lesion of AD, but it is not definitively established whether the formation of extracellular Aβ deposits is the absolute harbinger of the series of pathological events that hit the brain in the course of sporadic AD. The aim of this paper is to draw attention to a relatively overlooked age-related product, lipofuscin, and advance the hypothesis that its release into the extracellular space following the death of neurons may substantially contribute to the formation of senile plaques. The presence of intraneuronal Aβ, sim…
Dimensjonering av slank balkong i Ultra-High Performance Fibre-Reinforced Concrete
2017
Masteroppgave bygg BYG500 - Universitetet i Agder 2017 As part of the fifth and final year in civil engineering at University of Agder, this master’s thesis has been composed. This report was written during the spring semester of 2017. The purpose of this thesis was to dimension a slim balcony in UHPFRC. Nor Element wanted to be able to produce slim balconies in their own production facilities. Nor Element is currently producing balconies, but these have thicker cross sections. This master’s thesis involves a literature study and a dimension process. In the literature study the relevant guidelines and Eurocodes are presented. The study contains relevant formulas and recommendations needed t…
Rehabilitering av antikvarisk betongkonstruksjon fra perioden 1926-1938 : Vurdering av rehabiliteringstiltak og restkapasitet for Ingierstrand bad, b…
2017
Masteroppgave bygg BYG500 - Universitetet i Agder 2017 Traditionally restoration of antiquarian concrete constructions has been a prominent topic in Norwegian context. This topic has been given more attention, as more concrete constructions and reinforced concrete constructions have been preserved. In this thesis a case-study were done of Ingierstrand bad. A central part of the restoration of antiquarian concrete constructions is to control the capacity of the concrete against occurring stresses. We have in this thesis theoretically controlled the capacity of the standard being used during projecting and building, and that of today’s standard. We suggested the actions of restoration we thin…

2017
Masteroppgave bygg BYG500 - Universitetet i Agder 2017 Fiber reinforced composites have many good properties, but also many applications that make it vulnerable to accidental loads, like impact damage and fire. The problem with this is that minor and larger damage can be difficult to observe and a challenge to inspect on the spot. All materials exposed to fire, or high temperatures will expand, which can cause instability and large deformations. Several studies have examined the behavior of composites under these typical accidental loads individually, but none or very few have investigated when they occur simultaneously or the overall effect they provide. To address the problem in this thes…
