Aging measurements with the gas electron multiplier (GEM)

2001

Abstract Continuing previous aging measurements with detectors based on the Gas Electron Multiplier (GEM), we investigated a 31×31 cm 2 triple-GEM detector, as used in the small area tracking of the COMPASS experiment at CERN. With a detector identical to those installed in the experiment, long-term high-rate exposures to 8.9 keV X-ray radiation were performed to study its aging properties. In standard operation conditions, with Ar/CO2 (70:30) gas filling and operated at an effective gain of 8.5×103, no change in gain and energy resolution is observed after collecting a total charge of 7 mC / mm 2 , corresponding to seven years of normal operation. This observation confirms previous results…

Precision measurement of the conversion electron spectrum of 83mKr with a solenoid retarding spectrometer

1992

This paper reports on precision measurements of conversion lines in the decay of 83mKr with nuclear transition energies of 32.1 keV and 9.4 keV, respectively. The spectra were taken from a submonolayer surface of 83mKr frozen onto a cold backing, using the new Mainz solenoid retarding spectrometer. The high luminosity and resolution of this instrument enables the observation of all allowed conversion lines up to the N-shell and to fully separate the elastic component from inelastic satellites. The combined analysis of the data yields the transition energies Ey=32151.5±1.1 eV and 9405.9±0.8 eV, respectively. The experiment served also to pilot the application of this spectrometer to the ques…

The magnetic moment of the ρ-meson

2014

The magnetic moment of the \rho-meson is calculated in the framework of a low-energy effective field theory of the strong interactions. We find that the complex-valued strong interaction corrections to the gyromagnetic ratio are small leading to a value close to the real leading tree level result, g_\rho = 2. This is in a reasonably good agreement with the available lattice QCD calculations for this quantity.

Helicity Amplitudes of the Lambda(1670) and two Lambda(1405) as dynamically generated resonances

2010

We determine the helicity amplitudes A(1/2) and radiative decay widths in the transition Lambda(1670) -> gamma Y (Y = Lambda or Sigma(0)). The Lambda(1670) is treated as a dynamically generated resonance in meson-baryon chiral dynamics. We obtain the radiative decay widths of the Lambda(1670) to gamma Lambda as 2 +/- 1 keV and to -gamma Sigma(0) as 120 +/- 50 keV. Also, the Q(2)-dependence of the helicity amplitudes A(1/2) is calculated. We find that the K Xi component in the Lambda(1670) structure, mainly responsible for the dynamical generation of this resonance, is also responsible for the significant suppression of the decay ratio Gamma(gamma A)/Gamma(gamma Sigma 0). A measurement of th…

The electroweak sector of the NMSSM at the one-loop level

2010

We present the electroweak spectrum for the Next-to-Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model at the one-loop level, e. g. the masses of Higgs bosons, sleptons, charginos and neutralinos. For the numerical evaluation we present a mSUGRA variant with non-universal Higgs mass parameters squared and we compare our results with existing ones in the literature. Moreover, we briefly discuss the implications of our results for the calculation of the relic density.

Analytic results for planar three-loop integrals for massive form factors

2016

We use the method of differential equations to analytically evaluate all planar three-loop Feynman integrals relevant for form factor calculations involving massive particles. Our results for ninety master integrals at general $q^2$ are expressed in terms of multiple polylogarithms, and results for fiftyone master integrals at the threshold $q^2=4m^2$ are expressed in terms of multiple polylogarithms of argument one, with indices equal to zero or to a sixth root of unity.

Limits to the muon flux from WIMP annihilation in the center of the Earth with the AMANDA detector

2002

A search for nearly vertical up-going muon-neutrinos from neutralino annihilations in the center of the Earth has been performed with the AMANDA-B10 neutrino detector. The data sample collected in 130.1 days of live-time in 1997, ~10^9 events, has been analyzed for this search. No excess over the expected atmospheric neutrino background is oberved. An upper limit at 90% confidence level on the annihilation rate of neutralinos in the center of the Earth is obtained as a function of the neutralino mass in the range 100 GeV-5000 GeV, as well as the corresponding muon flux limit.
