Autocatalytic reaction-diffusion processes in restricted geometries

We study the dynamics of a system made up of particles of two different species undergoing irreversible quadratic autocatalytic reactions: $A + B \to 2A$. We especially focus on the reaction velocity and on the average time at which the system achieves its inert state. By means of both analytical and numerical methods, we are also able to highlight the role of topology in the temporal evolution of the system.
Post-Classical Islamic Philosophy – a Contradiction in Terms?

This paper engages critically with Dimitri Gutas’ recent characterization of post-classical Islamic philosophy and theology as a form of paraphilosophy or intellectual activity that merely simulates philosophy. I argue that this view arises from a misguided understanding of the concept of philosophy that should provide the standard for its historiography. Throughout the eighteenth century, the Spanish navy was extensively reformed and enhanced as a consequence of the new model of Monarchy that the Bourbons introduced. Among the measures adopted, it is remarkable the erection of the naval officers corps according to the needs and obligations that maritime war had in this century. This article establish relationships between the strong impact of crisis on the Spanish economy and the structural weaknesses of the growth model in the previous phase. Finally conclude about the need to promote specific economic policies to change that model as well as the forms of competition. However , it is found that the orientation of these policies has not driven this change, especially policies on R&D, which are specifically analyzed in this paper

A theoretical study of the intramolecular charge transfer in 4-(dimethylamino)benzethyne

We have investigated the non-adiabatic relaxation processes occurring in the singlet manifold of 4-(dimethylamino)benzethyne (DMABE){,} a molecule isoelectronic with 4-(dimethylamino)benzonitrile (DMABN) but lacking its characteristic dual fluorescence{,} using multireference perturbation theory methods. The results obtained point out to the existence of a two-fold decay mechanism in which the population of the initially accessed La state bifurcates towards a locally excited (LE) and a [small pi][sigma]* state.
