Acid Catalysis with Alkane/Water Microdroplets in Ionic Liquids

2021

Ionic liquids are composed of an organic cation and a highly delocalized perfluorinated anion, which remain tight to each other and neutral across the extended liquid framework. Here we show that n-alkanes in millimolar amounts enable a sufficient ion charge separation to release the innate acidity of the ionic liquid and catalyze the industrially relevant alkylation of phenol, after generating homogeneous, self-stabilized, and surfactant-free microdroplets (1–5 μm). This extremely mild and simple protocol circumvents any external additive or potential ionic liquid degradation and can be extended to water, which spontaneously generates microdroplets (ca. 3 μm) and catalyzes Brönsted rather …

Human Papilloma Virus-Dependent HMGA1 Expression Is a Relevant Step in Cervical Carcinogenesis

2008

HMGA1 is a member of a small family of architectural transcription factors involved in the coordinate assembly of multiprotein complexes referred to as enhanceosomes. In addition to their role in cell proliferation, differentiation, and development, high-mobility group proteins of the A type (HMGA) family members behave as transforming protoncogenes either in vitro or in animal models. Recent reports indicated that HMGA1 might counteract p53 pathway and provided an interesting hint on the mechanisms determining HMGA's transforming potential. HMGA1 expression is deregulated in a very large array of human tumors, including cervical cancer, but very limited information is available on the mole…

A novel evaluation model for hybrid power system based on vague set and Dempster-Shafer evidence theory

2012

Published version of an article from the journal: Mathematical Problems in Engineering. Also available from the publisher:http://dx.doi.org/10.1155/2012/784389 Because clean energy and traditional energy have different advantages and disadvantages, it is of great significance to evaluate comprehensive benefits for hybrid power systems. Based on thorough analysis of important characters on hybrid power systems, an index system including security, economic benefit, environmental benefit, and social benefit is established in this paper. Due to advantages of processing abundant uncertain and fuzzy information, vague set is used to determine the decision matrix. Convert vague decision matrix to …

The development of a market for Demand Side Flexibility: A study of the pilot project NorFlex

2021

Master's thesis in Industrial economics and technology management (IND590) Demand side flexibility (DSF) is believed to have positive value for the power system. DSF could solve the problems the power grid is facing due to increased electricity consumption and increased production from intermittent renewable energy sources. This is done by enabling de-mand side participation in the value chain. NorFlex is a pilot project testing and validating the DSF value chain. This thesis follows the NorFlex project, analyzing the potential value gain of DSF. The following problem statement is answered: In a developing market for Demand Side Flexibility, what is the potential for value gain? The researc…

Tiltak for håndtering av spenningsavvik : Kan fleksibilitet løse problemet?

2021

2018

2018

Potential for Usage of Thermoelectric Generators on Ships

2010

Published version of an article from the journal: Journal of Electronic Materials. he original publication is available at Springerlink. http://dx.doi.org/10.1007/s11664-010-1189-1 The useful waste heat potential for a bulk carrier has been evaluated as a preliminary step towards developing a thermoelectric generator (TEG) waste heat recovery system for ships. A medium-sized bulk carrier produces 6.2 MW of waste heat, and the most promising usable sources for the TEG are shown herein to be the exhausts from the main engine and the sludge oil incinerator.
