An Efficient Convolutional Neural Network with Transfer Learning for Malware Classification

2022

Rising prevalence of malicious software (malware) attacks represent a serious threat to online safety in the modern era. Malware is a threat to anyone who uses the Internet since it steals data and causes damage to computer systems. In addition, the exponential growth of malware hazards that affect many computer users, corporations, and governments has made malware detection, a popular issue in academic study. Current malware detection methods are slow and ineffectual because they rely on static and dynamic analysis of malware signatures and behavior patterns to detect unknown malware in real-time. Thus, this paper discusses the role of deep convolution neural networks in malware classifica…

Machine Learning Applications for Load Predictions in Electrical Energy Network

2022

In this work collected operational data of typical urban and rural energy network are analysed for predictions of energy consumption, as well as for selected region of Nordpool electricity markets. The regression techniques are systematically investigated for electrical energy prediction and correlating other impacting parameters. The k-Nearest Neighbour (kNN), Random Forest (RF) and Linear Regression (LR) are analysed and evaluated both by using continuous and vertical time approach. It is observed that for 30 minutes predictions the RF Regression has the best results, shown by a mean absolute percentage error (MAPE) in the range of 1-2 %. kNN show best results for the day-ahead forecastin…

Permission from IEEE must be obtained for all other uses, in any current or future media, including reprinting/republishing this material for advertising or promotional purposes, creating new collective works, for resale or redistribution to servers or lists, or reuse of any copyrighted component of this work in other works. In this paper the attitude tracking control problem of a 2 degrees-of-freedom helicopter system with network induced constraints is studied. A predictor feedback control law is developed to compensate a known delay in the communication, where the inputs are quantized before transmitted…

Long term stability of silicide based thermoelectric materials and modules

2023

Silicide-based thermoelectric generators are potential candidates for waste heat recovery at temperatures below 500  C. For the last two decades, the conversion efficiency of modules based on n-type magnesium silicides and p-type higher manganese silicide has improved significantly. However, the conditions in which thermoelectric generators operate (for example, remote areas in the oil, gas, and telecommunication industries, in automobiles, etc.) are harsh (corrosive, for example) and hostile (due to thermal instability). In this project, there was much focus on the stability of the thermoelectric modules, with special interest given to oxidation of the thermoelectric materials and module s…

Robust Switching Rule Design for Boost Converters with Uncertain Parameters and Disturbances

2013

Pubished version of an article in the journal: Abstract and Applied Analysis. Also available from the publisher at: http://dx.doi.org/10.1155/2013/120543 Open access This paper is concerned with the design problem of robust H∞ switching rule for Boost converters with uncertain parameters and disturbances. Firstly, the Boost converter is modeled as a switched affine linear system with uncertain parameters and disturbances. Then, using common Lyapunov function approach and linear matrix inequality (LMI) technique, a novel switching rule is proposed such that the H∞ model reference tracking performance is satisfied. Finally, a simulation result is provided to show the validity of the proposed …

Malware Detection in Internet of Things (IoT) Devices Using Deep Learning

2022

Internet of Things (IoT) devices usage is increasing exponentially with the spread of the internet. With the increasing capacity of data on IoT devices, these devices are becoming venerable to malware attacks; therefore, malware detection becomes an important issue in IoT devices. An effective, reliable, and time-efficient mechanism is required for the identification of sophisticated malware. Researchers have proposed multiple methods for malware detection in recent years, however, accurate detection remains a challenge. We propose a deep learning-based ensemble classification method for the detection of malware in IoT devices. It uses a three steps approach; in the first step, data is prep…

Fremtidig systemjording av regionalnettet i Agder

2018

Masteroppgave fornybar energi ENE500 - Universitetet i Agder 2018 System earthing describes how the neutral of a transformer is connected to ground. If a ground fault occurs, the system earthing is to detect and manage the fault current in such a way that it does not inflict damage on humans or the grid. An increasing fault current in compensated earthed networks have recently started to cause concerns in the Norwegian regional grid. Grid expansions, upgrades in operating voltage and increased amount of cables are factors that have made the fault current rise in many parts of the regional grid. Due to this, a review of possible system earthing designs has been desired, to insure a future-or…

Building integrated PV system sizing based on techno-economics evaluation: Design study for a Southern Norwegian house

2021

Master's thesis in Renewable energy (ENE500) Renewable energy sources are promising to take a significant share in the energy sector as a viable option for integrating with conventional fossil fuel power plants. This thesis contributes to the ongoing studies about building integrated photovoltaic (BIPV) system energy storage. The system comprises the photovoltaic array to capture solar energy, a power converter to change over AC and DC, a grid connection, and a lead-acid battery to store energy. The modeling is also completed by assessing the required load, specifications and choosing the components associated with the system. The geographic area, solar irradiance, and load consumption upon…
