Legers erfaring med pasienttilgang til elektronisk sykehusjournal
2019
Masteroppgave helse- og sosialinformatikk HSI500 - Universitetet i Agder 2019 Background: In many countries, patient access to electronic health records (PAEHR), have been or are about to be introduced. So also, in Norway. One hopes that this will increase patient ́s involvement in their own health. Aim:This study aims to learn about doctor ́s experience with PAEHR after three years in a hospital in Norway.Selection and method:This is a qualitative study where eight doctors have been interviewed about their experience with PAEHR. The analysis has been done with the help of “technological frames” as a means to understand information technology and how people interact with it. Result:The stud…
Implementering av elektroniske legemiddelkurven på et sykehus
2014
Masteroppgave i helse- og sosialinformatikk HSI 500 Universitetet i Agder 2014 Background: This rapport is a student project as a part of the final year program for master degree in Health and social Informatics at Agder University. The implementation of electronic prescribing systems in the health sector is a priority for both the public policy and for the management of hospitals. It is expected that such systems will increase the work capacity of the employees, improve information flow and reduce medication errors. Akershus University Hospital is the only hospital in Norway that has implemented an electronic prescribing system at the ward units. But implementation is seriously delayed com…
Er e-læring riktig kurs? : hva mener de ansatte?
2017
Masteroppgave i helse- og sosialinformatikk HSI500 - Universitetet i Agder 2017 Background E-learning has become an important part of the training of employees in health organizations. Successful e-learning requires, co-operation, good interaction between educational tools, organizational culture and technology. An important precondition for achieving this good interaction is to focus on the education and organization and not so much on the technology itself. This study aims to find out what employees think and believe about e-learning. The following question is the basis for this study: «How do employees at Sørlandet Hospital HF evaluate e-learning courses, and are they likely to be positi…
End-Triassic Extinction in a Carbonate Platform From Western Tethys: A Comparison Between Extinction Trends and Geochemical Variations
2022
The Triassic/Jurassic boundary section cropping out at Mt Sparagio in north-western Sicily (Italy) consists of a thick and continuous peritidal succession typical of a Tethyan carbonate platform. The combined chemostratigraphic and biostratigraphic study of this section allowed us to parallel the environmental variations inferred by the isotopic records and the extinction trends recorded by the benthic organisms. In the studied section, the isotope data of C, O, and S are indicative of serious environmental perturbations related to the Central Atlantic Magmatic Province (CAMP) activity, as recorded worldwide. Two negative excursions in the C-curve (Initial-CIE and Main-CIE) confirm the acid…
The Bayesian Pursuit Algorithm: A New Family of Estimator Learning Automata
2011
Published version of a chapter in the book: Modern Approaches in Applied Intelligence. Also available from the publisher at http://dx.doi.org/10.1007/978-3-642-21827-9_53 The fastest Learning Automata (LA) algorithms currently available come from the family of estimator algorithms. The Pursuit algorithm (PST), a pioneering scheme in the estimator family, obtains its superior learning speed by using Maximum Likelihood (ML) estimates to pursue the action currently perceived as being optimal. Recently, a Bayesian LA (BLA) was introduced, and empirical results that demonstrated its advantages over established top performers, including the PST scheme, were reported. The BLA scheme is inherently …
A deep learning segmentation approach to calories and weight estimation of food images
2019
Master's thesis Information- and communication technology IKT590 - University of Agder 2019 Today’s generation is very aware of what they are eating and the amountof calories in their food. Eating too many calories can lead to increasedweight, which has become a big health issue. A study from 2016 states thatmore than 1,9 billion adults are overweight where almost one third of theseare obese. Statistics from Norway show that 1 of 4 men and 1 of 5 womenare obese.Artificial Intelligence in general and deep learning in particular can be usedto help understand the content of eaten food. In this master thesis, wepropose a network to estimate the weight of food from a single image. Thisis done in…
Possible influence of Zoophycos bioturbation on radiocarbon dating and environmental interpretation
2002
Abstract In paleoenvironmental studies of marine sediments bioturbation is often neglected and/or only treated as a diffusion-like process affecting only the uppermost sediment with decreasing intensity with depth. Deep dwelling animals, like the Zoophycos producing animal, however, affect the sediment composition by transporting material over vertical distances of up to 1 m below the seafloor. In Arabian Sea sediment cores 70KL, 64KL and 57KL a significant downward transport of particles by Zoophycos can be observed. Within the Zoophycos burrows the faunal composition of both planktonic and benthic foraminiferal assemblages as well as the isotopic signature of foraminiferal carbonate diffe…
Using game elements to increase students’ motivation for providing peer assistance
2017
Master's thesis Multimedia and Educational Technology MM500 - University of Agder 2017 Abstract Peer assistance is a support system where people of equal status help each other solve problems. It is also a recognized method within education where students support each other with their assignments. The positive effect of peer assistance is well known, and it would be favorable if more students participated and took on the role as peer-teachers. To increase the activity of peer assistance, several incentives can be used, including game elements. In “Using game elements to increase peer assistance among university students”, (Nordengen & Brinch, 2016, p. 1) tried to predict which game elements…
Industrial Robot Collision Handling in Harsh Environments
2014
Doktorgradsavhandling i mekatronikk, Universitetet i Agder, 2014 The focus in this thesis is on robot collision handling systems, mainly collision detection and collision avoidance for industrial robots operating in harsh environments (e.g. potentially explosive atmospheres found in the oil and gas sector). Collision detection should prevent the robot from colliding and therefore avoid a potential accident. Collision avoidance builds on the concept of collision detection and aims at enabling the robot to find a collision free path circumventing the obstacle and leading to the goal position. The work has been done in collaboration with ABB Process Automation Division with focus on applicatio…
