Deep Convolutional Neural Networks for Semantic Segmentation of Multi-Band Satellite Images
2018
Master's thesis Information- and communication technology IKT590 - University of Agder 2018 Semantic segmentation of images is of increasing interest in the eld of computer vision and machine learning. Accurate and e cient segmentation methods is required for many of todays modern applications. This the- sis provides a review of deep learning methods for semantic segmentation of satellite images. Firstly, we compare di erent state-of-the-art methods. Next, we explore the bene ts of using multiple spectral bands of data as compared to the traditional RGB bands. Finally, a look at future possibil- ities with segmentation using capsule networks.
Combining Deep Privacy with an Attribute-driven Generative Adversarial Network to Preserve Gender and Age in De-identified CCTV Footage
2021
Master's thesis in Information- and communication technology (IKT590) A surveillance camera is an efficient solution to prohibit crimes for both small and big businesses, and is broadly utilized in big cities. Today, the police force can only access the camera footage for further investigation after an act of crime. In order to observe, find patterns, and react appropriately to an event, the Oslo Police wants to use its own CCTV cameras and analyze such footage in real-time. To investigate real-time CCTV footage and share such footage with a third-party for analyzing, the people in the footage need to be de-identified. In this thesis, we focus on de-identification of CCTV footage, preservin…
Hand Gestures Recognition using Thermal Images
2021
Master's thesis in Information- and communication technology (IKT590) Hand gesture recognition is important in a variety of applications, including medical systems and assistive technologies, human-computer interaction, human-robot interaction, industrial automation, virtual environment control, sign language translation, crisis and disaster management, en-tertainment and computer games, and robotics. RGB cameras are usually used for most of these applications. However, their performance is limited especially in low-light conditions. It is challenging to accurately classify the hand gestures in dark conditions. In this thesis, we propose the robust hand gestures recognition based on high re…
SNOMED on FHIR Transmission of clinical data with the Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources protocol (HL7-FHIR) utilizing Systematized Nomenclat…
2019
Master's thesis Information- and communication technology IKT590 - University of Agder 2019 The exchange of information at the level of semantic interoperability needs some infor-mation model and clinical terminology work together. Electronic records of the patientmust include the terminologies in order to give the decision support to the practitionerwhen needed. Due to the lack of common standards for data structure and data sharingcreates the problem to interact and share information with different applications. Our main goal in this thesis is transferring the SNOMED-CT (Systematized Nomenclatureof Medicine Clinical Terms) terminologies using HL7 FHIR (Fast Healthcare Interoper-ability Res…
Is a SPARQL endpoint a good way to manage nursing documentation
2014
Masteroppgave i Informasjons- og kommunikasjonsteknologi IKT590 Universitetet i Agder 2014 In Semantic Web there are different technologies available, among these technologies ontologies are considered a basic technology to promote semantic management and activities. An ontology is capable to exhibits a common, shareable and reusable view of a specific application domain, and they give meaning to information structures that are exchanged by information systems [63]. In this project our main goal is to develop an application that helps to store and manage the patient related clinical data. For this reason first we made an ontology, in ontology we add some patient related records. After that …
Playing the game of Hex with theTsetlin Machine and tree search
2020
Master's thesis in Information- and communication technology (IKT590) Hex is an abstract mathematical board game where the players aim to build a connection of pieces, traversing the board from edge to edge. The game requires the use of certain patterns to be played at a high level. Artificially Intelligent Hex players have had success using Monte Carlo tree search and current research efforts have introduced neural networks. This thesis looks into the recent Tsetlin Machine pattern-recognition technique, relying on interpretability, in combination with the Monte Carlo tree search method to play the game of Hex. A supervised learning approach has been employed in an effort to teach the Tset…
The Application of the Tsetlin Machine in Checkers
2020
Master's thesis in Information- and communication technology (IKT590) The Tsetlin Machine has shown promising results in the domain of board games such as Axis& Allies, showing that the Tsetlin Machine may be a contender to more well-known machine learning algorithms. This research aimed to find out how suitable the Tsetlin Machine is for the domain of Checkers, and how to best utilize it for the purpose of playing Checkers. In order to research this, the following questions had to be answered: Which Tsetlin Machine Configuration is best suited for predicting the results of Checkers games? To what degree can the Tsetlin Ma-chine predict the results of Checkers games? How well can a Checkers…

2020
Master's thesis in Information- and communication technology (IKT590) This thesis aims to explore the behavior of two competing reinforcement learning agents in Super Mario Bros. In video games, PCG can be used to assist human game designers by generating a particular aspect of the game. A human game designer can use generated game content as inspiration to build further upon, which saves time and resources. Much research has been conducted on AI in video games, including AI for playing Super Mario Bros. Additionally, there exists a research field focused on PCG for video games, which includes generation of Super Mario Bros. levels. In this thesis, the two fields of research are combined to…
Modelling of the Universe : Simulation of the GPS (The Global Positioning System)
2007
Masteroppgave i informasjons- og kommunikasjonsteknologi 2007 – Høgskolen i Agder, Grimstad ParAbel is a project at Agder University College aims at mathematics and physics on Internet. One of the sub projects named SimReal [2] (Simulation in ‘Realfag’), which currently aims at simulating behaviours and properties of universe for both mathematics and physics studying. This project focuses on simulation of the GPS which is one sub task in SimReal. In this paper, on the one hand, we will set up a GPS simulation model and use it to be a teaching material for learning mathematics and physics. On the other hand, by testing the simulation model among the college students, we will discuss about th…
Neighbor discovery and resource allocation for device-to-device communication
2014
Masteroppgave i Informasjons- og kommunikasjonsteknologi IKT590 Universitetet i Agder 2014 Device-to-Device (D2D) communication has attracted lots of attention as one of the most advanced wirelesscommunication technologies which allows access to services offered by nearby devices bypassing the BaseStation (BS). The potential advantages of this direct communication paradigm include high data rate, networkoffloading and range extension, as well as commercial proximity services and social networking. From the UserEquipments (UEs) and BS perspective, additional protocol overhead and discovery resource are required forD2D links. In such a context, neighbor discovery and resource allocation appro…
