Broadband wireless communication systems: Channel modeling and system performance analysis
2011
Ph.D. Thesis The University of Agder, Faculty of Engineering and Science Wideband channel modeling, which can accurately describe the most important characteristics of wideband mobile fading channels, is essential for the design, evaluation, and optimization of broadband wireless communication systems. In the field of wideband channel modeling, the tradeoff between the prediction accuracy and simulation efficiency has to be taken into account. On one hand, channel models should be as accurate as possible. On the other hand, channel models are supposed to be simple and easy to put into use. There are several commonly used approaches to channel modeling, e.g., measurement-based channel modeli…
A Study of the Influence of Shadowing on the Statistical Properties of the Capacity of Mobile Radio Channels
2008
Article from the journal: Wireless Personal Communications The original publication is available at www.springerlink.com : http://dx.doi.org/10.1007/s11277-008-9545-7 This paper studies the influence of shadowing on the statistical properties of the channel capacity. The problem is addressed by using a Suzuki process as an appropriate statistical channel model for land mobile terrestrial channels. Using this model, exact solutions for the probability density function (PDF), cumulative distribution function (CDF), level-crossing rate (LCR), and average duration of fades (ADF) of the channel capacity are derived. The results are studied for different levels of shadowing, corresponding to diff…

User-centred Design of a Mobile Application for Chronic Pain Management
2020
Chronic pain patients constitute a large and heterogeneous patient group and it is important to build tools and methods that can identify efficient treatment options for each individual patient. It is estimated that 20-30% of the population has suffered from chronic pain and this imposes enormous costs on society and the national welfare programs. The research project Chronic Pain addresses the problem of how to provide patients and physicians with relevant, valid and adapted decision alternatives in a shared decision making tool. This paper presents the results from co-creation workshops early in the user-centred design process of the chronic pain mobile application. The end-users contribu…
Elektronisk kurve - mulighet for reduksjon av legemiddel feil i sykehus?
2013
Educational Games for eHealth : Using Games as a Tool to Teach Disease Precautions
2021
Master's thesis in Multimedia and educational technology (MM506) This master thesis investigated how an educational game could affect the ability to remember infectious disease precautions, guidelines, and hygiene rules over time in students and young adults in Norway. It also compared the ability to remember and implement these precautions taught in an educational game to the digital course “Training in Protective Measures” at the University of Agder. A high-fidelity digital prototype of an educational game was created for the purpose of this thesis project, with learning materials based on the teachings in the course. Qualitative research methods have been used for the evaluation of the p…
Hvilke faktorerer viktige for at helsepersonell vil akseptere og ønske å bruke digitale sykesignalanlegg? : En kvantitativ studie gjennomført i sykeh…

Master's thesis in Health informatics (HSI500) Background: The requisite for health services in the primary health care will increase during the upcoming years. The population has an increasing share of elderlies, and amongst those many with dementia and other cognitive impairment. The Norwegian Directorate of Health recommends that municipalities, that are to upgrade their nurse call systems, choose digital systems that opens for the possibility of passive alert. Purpose: The purpose of our study has been to research which factors that are important for health personnel to accept digital nurse call systems, so that they both liked and had a wish to use them. Our research problem was “Which…

Master's thesis in Health informatics (HSI500) Background: Increasing volume of day surgery and a paradigm shift in patient care, has led to increased involvement of patients in the course of treatment, which requires good information, and good communication between the patient and health professionals. National health policy guidelines are suggesting that Internet-based services may be a key element to meet this need. For patients to use e-health solutions though, there must be an intention of use. Aim: The aim of this study was to explore what factors patients believe may affect their intention to use a service for digital post-operative follow-up after elective surgery. Sample and method…
2020
Master's thesis in Health informatics (HSI500) Background -VAR Healthcare (VAR) provides up to date clinical procedures, which means that the users won't have to develop these themselves. VAR has become a big player in Norway and provides its services to health trusts, municipal health services and educational institutions. There has been previous attempts to develop a national database for clinical procedures by the government, but this project was set on hold in 2018. This puts VAR in a unique position in the Norwegian market. Purpose –This study examines the experiences of nurses in two Norwegian municipalities which uses clinical procedures from VAR. Their experiences will be categorize…
