Robust tool point control for offshore knuckle boom crane
2011
Author's version of a chapter in the book: Proceedings of the 18th IFAC World Congress 2011. Also available from the publisher at: http://dx.doi.org/10.3182/20110828-6-IT-1002.03004 This paper considers the design of an H∞ controller for tool point control of a hydraulically actuated knuckle boom crane. The paper describes the modelling of the crane's mechanical and hydraulic systems and a disturbance model. These are linearised and combined in a state-space model used for the controller design. The controller synthesis problem is to design (if possible) an admissible controller that solves the problem of robust regulation against step inputs with an H∞ constraint based on the internal mode…
Pedagogisk- psykologisk tjeneste (PPT) og barn og unges psykiske helse i grunnskolen : hvordan opplever og forholder PPT seg til barn og unges psykis…
2014
Background: This project has become as a result of my work in mental hospital for adults, where my experience is that many adults who have had traumatic experiences in early years of life have got reduced quality of life as grownups. My question has been: “who is able to identify children and young people with mental challenges in early years of life?” Objective: The aim of this study has been to get knowledge about which challenges pedagogical- psychological services (PPT) face, and how they help and which experiences the consultants have about children and young people`s mental health. This has lead to the research question: “How experience and in what way does PPT relate to children and …
Tvangsmedisinering som permanent unntakstilstand : Erfaringer fra feltarbeid
2012
Accepted version of an article in the journal: Tidsskrift for psykisk helsearbeid. Also available from Universitetsforlaget: http://www.idunn.no/ts/tph/2012/02/tvangsmedisinering_som_permanent_unntakstilstand Studien analyserer hvordan tvangsmedisinering praktiseres og oppleves av pasienter og ansatte.
2009
Development and testing of a net-based resource to guide teachers in assisting students with mental health challenges
2021
Master's thesis in Multimedia and educational technology (MM506) This thesis will seek answers to what extent teachers are properly equipped when helping students with mental health problems, how a net-based resource can assist teachers in handling this challenge, and what approaches teachers recommend for an easy-to-use net-based resource. We iteratively prototyped a net-based resource called Tankeverk.no using a Human-Centered Design (HCD) approach by involving key stakeholders, experts, health personal, and teachers. The prototype combined with the in-depth interviews and questionnaires gave insights into the relevance, quality, and user acceptance of our solution. The vast majority of t…
The magic in the (extra)ordinary: Intensive validation to recalibrate the life-worlds of adolescents exposed to abuse
2022
This qualitative case study aimed to explore environmental circumstances and inter-actional processes that appeared to be relevant for the dynamics of resilience in ado-lescents exposed to child abuse. Fieldwork at a learning and coping centre forchildren and their families was combined with semi-structured interviews with ado-lescent participants aged 12 to 18 years. A critical realist approach was used tounpack what has been called the‘ordinary magic’of resilience. We found thatinten-sively validating qualitiesof both theenvironmentandrelationshipsseemed to be driv-ing components for resilience. Borrowing ideas from the sociometer theory, wepropose that particularly the consistent intensi…
Ethical realism before social constructionism
2021
In this article, I explore the idea that there is a fundamental ethical aspect that precedes social constructionism. I suggest that within social constructionism we can identify a development from seeing knowledge as socially constructed ( epistemological social constructionism) to seeing not only knowledge, but also corporeal ways of being as socially constructed ( ontological social constructionism). As a next step, I propose incorporating what I refer to as ethical realism in social constructionist perspectives. In the encounter with the other human being, I argue that there is a real ethical impulse that precedes social constructionism and puts it in motion. This impulse is real in the…

A parameter-dependent approach to observer-based H ∞ control for networked control LPV systems
2014
Published version of an article in the journal: Mathematical Problems in Engineering. Also available from the publisher at: http://dx.doi.org/10.1155/2014/698075 We address the observer-based H ∞ controller design problem for networked control LPV (NC LPV) systems, which are network-based systems that depend on unknown but measurable time-varying parameters. According to the analysis of the special issues brought by introducing network into LPV systems and the state reconstruction based on the observer, a new augmented model is established with two independent time-varying delays, which can carry out the controller and observer collaborative design effectively. Based on the parameter-depend…
Feedback vibration control of a base-isolated building with delayed measurements using h∞ techniques
2010
Published version of a paper presented at the American Control Conference (ACC), 2010. (c) 2010 IEEE. Personal use of this material is permitted. Permission from IEEE must be obtained for all other users, including reprinting/ republishing this material for advertising or promotional purposes, creating new collective works for resale or redistribution to servers or lists, or reuse of any copyrighted components of this work in other works n this paper we address the problem of vibration reduction of buildings with delayed measurements, where the delays are time-varying and bounded. We focus on a convex optimization approach to the problem of state-feedback H ∞ control design. An appropriate …
