Evaluation of the Perceived Effects of a Video Conferencing for Windows Mobile
2008
Masteroppgave i Informasjons- og Kommunikasjonsteknologi 2008, Universitetet i Agder, Grimstad The aim of this thesis is to test the video quality in videoconferencing from the end user’s perception based on the Windows Mobile EMP platform. Video conferencing is promising service in practice and the quality of the service is not well described. The video quality may be affected by many factors and the influence brought by the EMP platform as well as the artificial control is going to be tested and evaluated. The Windows mobile architecture in general and the Windows mobile videoconferencing framework in special are illustrated in the thesis. This gives information about how the videoconfere…
Sensornettverk : batterisparende aktivering av sensorer
2007
Enhancing hierarchical clustering with local search
2007
Data Clustering is defined as grouping together objects which share similar properties. These properties can be anything as long as it is possible to measure and compare them. Clustering can be an important tool in many different settings varying from medical use to data mining. In this work we distinguish between two different types of clustering. The simplest one, called partitional clustering, tries to create one solution by comparing objects and partitioning them into non-overlapping groups. The second one, called hierarchical clustering, is a bit more complex and will try to generate a multi-layered solution instead. In this multi-layered structure, groups actually consist of more than…
Access control and availability aspects using wireless solutions based on IEEE 802.11 technologies, providing access to classified networks
2007
Wireless networking is among the fastest growing trends in technology. For military objectives wireless networks are effective and flexible ways of communicating, and important elements in operating quick, accurate and independent. Over the last year’s commercial technology, based on the wireless IEEE 802.11 standard has grown to be low-cost products offering cheap and easy ways to establish rapid communication services. For all that, lacking elements of security, increased availability, weak mechanisms and capabilities in order to protect and safeguard private wireless networking, concerns costumers which require high assurance communication facilities. To comply with physical security, hi…
Code Generation from Cinderella-SDL to Embedded Platforms
2007
Masteroppgave i informasjons- og kommunikasjonsteknologi 2007 – Høgskolen i Agder, Grimstad SDL (Specification and description language) is increasingly adopted by many companies and researchers. Its simplicity and object-oriented structure can greatly ease the workload for them. However, the lack of concretization makes SDL not applicable when it comes to real-world implementation. AvR is a micro-controller which can be a platform to carry out real-world implementation. The micro kernel REFLEX of the AvR operating system adopted many SDL features. Here, I present a new code generator which can transform SDL systems into executable C programs. It is built specially for SDL REFLEX which is a…
Documentation and evaluation of data environments for data warehouse
2007
Masteroppgave i informasjons- og kommunikasjonsteknologi 2007 – Høgskolen i Agder, Grimstad In order to support Integrated Operations ConocoPhillips Norge (COPNO) has in cooperation with the “Good to Great” and “Data to Decisions” projects undertaken the task of creating a data warehouse system they have called “Knowledge Infrastructure”. In conjunction with this project COPNO wishes to examine the system and give an overall description of the Knowledge Infrastructure. COPNO also wants to investigate into the possibilities of separating the development- and test environments as well as the chance of creating other environments. In this thesis the system at COPNO is described and evaluated a…
Sudoku meta-model
2008
This project is connected to the SMILE project at the University of Agder. In order to deal with the continuously increasing level of complexity in software, we need to use higher levels of abstraction. By using models throughout the development process in language development, we can better handle this complexity. This report deals with modeling Sudoku by SMILE’s six aspects of a meta-model: structure, constraints, textual representation, graphical representation, run and transform. Both Eclipse and Visual Studio are used in the development, thus two different solutions are presented. The results are meta-models created in Eclipse and Visual Studio following the SMILE methodology. These me…
Using Bayesian networks to describe hydrologic processes
2014
Masteroppgave i Informasjons- og kommunikasjonsteknologi IKT590 Universitetet i Agder 2014 The goal for this Masters thesis is to explore the use of dynamic Bayesian networks for describinghydrologic processes. The main intent is to try and provide better descriptions of the uncertainties thatare tied to dealing with such complex and partially unknown processes, while also trying to reducethese uncertainties. For this purpose I have translated part of a well known and widely useddeterministic model, the snow module of the HBV model, into a dynamic Bayesian network.
Modelling of Mobile-To-Mobile MIMO Channels
2007
Masteroppgave i informasjons- og kommunikasjonsteknologi 2007 – Høgskolen i Agder, Grimstad Mobile-to-Mobile (M2M) communications are expected to play are expected to play an important role in various elds including ad hoc networks and intelligent transportation systems. In such systems, extremely reliable links are required. To cope with problems faced during the development and performance investigation of futureMobile-to-Mobile multi-input multi-output (MIMO) communication systems, a solid knowledge of the underlying multipath fading channel characteristics is essential. This master thesis focuses on the modelling, analysis, and simulation of M2M single-input single-output (SISO) and M2M…
Evaluation of IP over Bluetooth
2002
Masteroppgave i informasjons- og kommunikasjonsteknologi 2002 - Høgskolen i Agder, Grimstad The increasing use of Wireless technologies suggest that this kind of technology has a bright future. Today the most popular Wireless Local Area Networks are WLAN 802.11 and Bluetooth. They both have their strengths in different environments. Bluetooth was not initially an Internet technology, but over the years the focus on implementing Bluetooth nodes with Internet capability has increased. When we want to run IP over Bluetooth we need some kind of gateway to the Internet from Bluetooth, a network access point. This will be an important device in the thesis. The Bluetooth Special Interest Group has…
