Semantic Description of IoT Security for Smart Grid
2017
Master's thesis Information- and communication technology IKT590 - University of Agder 2017 This research work proposed, developed and evaluated IoT Security ontology for smart home energy management system (SHEMS) in smart grids. The ontology description includes infrastructure, attacks, vulnerabilities and counter measures for the main components of SHEMS such as Smart Meter, Smart Appliance, Home Gateway, and Billing data. The ontology extends the SAREF energy management ontology with security features. We have two main reasons for selecting SAREF ontology to base our work on. First, SAREF is standardized by ETSI. Second, it is specifically designed for energy management and efficiency. …

Prospects for quarkonium studies at the high-luminosity LHC
2020
Prospects for quarkonium-production studies accessible during the upcoming high-luminosity phases of the CERN Large Hadron Collider operation after 2021 are reviewed. Current experimental and theoretical open issues in the field are assessed together with the potential for future studies in quarkonium-related physics. This will be possible through the exploitation of the huge data samples to be collected in proton-proton, proton-nucleus and nucleus-nucleus collisions, both in the collider and fixed-target modes. Such investigations include, among others, those of: (i) J/psi and Upsilon produced in association with other hard particles; (ii) chi(c,b) and eta(c,b) down to small transverse mom…

Knowledge exchange between KIBS and their customers in a digitalization context : A case study of interactions between Bouvet and Agder Energi Nett
2019
Master's thesis Industrial Economics and Technology Management IND590 - University of Agder 2019 The rise of digitalization as one of the major trends in the world of business offersgreat challenges for organizations regarding technological knowledge. This is becausetechnology unwraps so rapid that it is difficult for organizations to sustain a ma-ture relation to technological knowledge, which in turn makes it more difficult tounderstand, master, and utilize new products and services. To resolve this issue, organizations tend to turn to consultancy firms with expertise in the technologicalfield. It is in such a setting that this thesis aims to examinehow consultancy firmsand their customers…
Sikkert valgsystem over Internett
2001
Feces production as a form of social immunity in an insect with facultative maternal care
2015
Background Social animals have the unique capability of mounting social defenses against pathogens. Over the last decades, social immunity has been extensively studied in species with obligatory and permanent forms of social life. However, its occurrence in less derived social systems and thus its role in the early evolution of group-living remains unclear. Here, we investigated whether lining nests with feces is a form of social immunity against microbial growth in the European earwig Forficula auricularia, an insect with temporary family life and facultative maternal care. Results Using a total of 415 inhibition zone assays, we showed that earwig feces inhibit the growth of two GRAM+ bact…
Real-time video transmission in UMTS
2001
Masteroppgave i informasjons- og kommunikasjonsteknologi 2001 - Høgskolen i Agder, Grimstad Universal Mobile Telecommunication System is denoted as a 3rd cellular system and has been designed with the objective to be a system with global coverage. With the major improvement of in bandwidth capability the Universal Mobile Telecommunications System will be able to support real time multimedia services. This thesis starts with a presentation of the possible video services that can be exploited in third generation cellular systems. Video services are known to be bandwidth consuming and have rigid requirements to the real time requirements. Though the major increase in available bandwidth in the…
Daphnia females adjust sex allocation in response to current sex ratio and density
2018
Cyclical parthenogenesis presents an interesting challenge for the study of sex allocation, as individuals’ allocation decisions involve both the choice between sexual and asexual reproduction, and the choice between sons and daughters. Male production is therefore expected to depend on ecological and evolutionary drivers of overall investment in sex, and those influencing male reproductive value during sexual periods. We manipulated experimental populations, and made repeated observations of natural populations over their growing season, to disentangle effects of population density and the timing of sex from effects of adult sex ratio on sex allocation in cyclically parthenogenetic Daphnia…
Cell type-specific circuits of cortical layer IV spiny neurons
2003
Sensory signal processing in cortical layer IV involves two major morphological classes of excitatory neurons: spiny stellate and pyramidal cells. It is essentially unknown how these two cell types are integrated into intracortical networks and whether they play different roles in cortical signal processing. We mapped their cell-specific intracortical afferents in rat somatosensory cortex through a combination of whole-cell patch-clamp recordings and caged glutamate photolysis. Spiny stellate cells received monosynaptic excitation and inhibition originating almost exclusively from neurons located within the same barrel. Pyramidal cells, by contrast, displayed additional excitatory inputs fr…
