La obra YIZKEREM (del hebreo: Que nuestro Señor los recuerde) es un monumento al Holocausto de la nación judía. Dado que la compositora, Bracha Bdil, pertenece a la comunidad ortodoxa de Europa del Este, muchas de sus obras se basan en la tradición musical de los modos judíos de Europa del Este y los textos de estas fuentes. La fusión de la técnica compositiva contemporánea con los elementos de la antigua tradición judía conduce a la compositora a un lenguaje compositivo muy personal.

Adaptive explanations for dormancy often invoke bet hedging, where reduced mean fitness can be adaptive if it associates with reduced fitness variance. Sex allocation theory typically ignores variance effects and focuses on mean fitness. For many cyclical parthenogens, these themes become linked, as only sexually produced eggs undergo the dormancy needed to survive harsh conditions. We ask how sex allocation and the timing of sex evolve when this constraint exists in the form of a trade-off between asexual reproduction and sexual production of dormant eggs—the former being crucial for within-season success and the latter for survival across seasons. Tardigrades reports from British Columbia (Canada) trace back to 1908 and numerous species have been recorded from this region, despite the relatively few published sampling studies. We describe by integrative taxonomy (light microscopy morphology, morphometrics, and DNA sequencing) a new tardigrade species, Sisubiotus hakaiensis sp. nov. from the British Columbia central coast. The new species has been found in moss collected from a vertical rock outcrop near the Hakai Institute Calvert Island Field Station. Abstract Secondary sexual trait expression can be influenced by fixed individual factors (such as genetic quality) as well as by dynamic factors (such as age and environmentally induced gene expression) that may be associated with variation in condition or quality.
