The current and incoming editors in chief present the articles of this current issue of Human Technology. Additionally, they discuss the human component of recent technological macrotrends and the journal’s editorial interests in responding to and exploring them. During Editor in Chief Pertti Hurme’s 3-year term, research reflecting a wide range of topics has been published in Human Technology. This online journal, proudly open-access since its beginning, and will continue to invite innovative and interesting manuscripts for open-access publishing under its new editor in chief, Jukka Jouhki.

Background: Several school fruit programs are initiated with the aim to improve diet and thereby contribute to reduce the prevalence of overweight. To date, no published studies have demonstrated that school fruit schemes do prevent overweight.Objective: The aim of the present study was to assess if increased consumption of fruits and vegetables, due to free school fruit, have an impact on future weight status.Design: An intervention study including 10- to 12-year-old children from nine schools in two Norwegian counties (Hedmark and Telemark) participating in the Norwegian School Fruit Program for free during the school year 2001/2002 and children from 29 control schools. Kiedy w 1908 r. w Cieszowej, jednej z najstarszych gmin żydowskich na Górnym Śląsku, wystawiono budynki rozwiązanego kahału do licytacji, ks. Karl Urban (1864-1923), proboszcz parafii św. Józefa w Sadowie, do której należała również i sama Cieszowa, z własnych środków zakupił synagogę wraz z zabudowaniami, chroniąc je w ten sposób od nieuchronnej likwidacji. Cieszowa była jedną z czterech wiosek na Górnym Śląsku, w których kazano zamieszkać Żydom w czasie pruskich zakazów osiedleńczych, wydawanych w latach 70. i 80. XVIII w. In addition, the study wanted to investigate differences in grit based on school type (age) and gender. This longitudinal study is part of a larger project called "The Relevance of Physical Activity Contexts in the Daily Life of Adolescents" (REPAC). The study is based on data from two time points (2014 and 2016).
