Robotic Platform for Automated Search and Rescue Missions of Humans

We present a novel type of model incorporating a special remote life signals sensing optical system on top of a controllable robotic platform. The remote sensing system consists of a laser and a camera. By properly adapting our optics and by applying a proper image processing algorithm we can sense within the field of view, illuminated by the laser and imaged by the camera, the heartbeats and the blood pulse pressure of subjects (even several simultaneously). The task is to use the developed robotic system for search and rescue mission such as saving survivals from a fire.

Contact Estimation in Robot Interaction

In the paper, safety issues are examined in a scenario in which a robot manipulator and a human perform the same task in the same workspace. During the task execution, the human should be able to physically interact with the robot, and in this case an estimation algorithm for both interaction forces and a contact point is proposed in order to guarantee safety conditions. The method, starting from residual joint torque estimation, allows both direct and adaptive computation of the contact point and force, based on a principle of equivalence of the contact forces. Physicochemical and functional characterization of the polymerization process of the Geodia cydonium lectin

The extracellularly localized, galactose-specific lectin from the sponge Geodia cydonium binds at one class of sites, 40 mol Ca2+/mol lectin with an association constant (Ka) of 0.3 X 10(6)M-1. Stoichiometric calculations reveal that in the extracellular milieu 22 mol Ca2+ (maximum) are complexed per mol lectin. Binding of Ca2+ to the lectin increases its apparent Mr from 44000 to 56000 (electrophoretic determination) or from 36500 to 53500 (high-pressure liquid gel chromatographical determination); the s20, w increases from 4.3 S to 4.5 S if Ca2+ is added to the lectin. Olleros, alfareros y fabricantes de loza en Ribesalbes, entre 1742 y 1817

El desarrollo de la tradición alfarera en Ribesalbes, y el posterior establecimiento de las primeras fábricas de loza, a finales del siglo XVIII, viene determinado por los condicionantes naturales e históricos de la villa; así como por la influencia decisiva de la Real Manufactura del conde de Aranda, en la vecina población de L’Alcora. En este trabajo, a partir de diversas fuentes documentales primarias, entre las que cabe destacar los libros sacramentales del Archivo Parroquial de Ribesalbes, y la Contribución general de 1817, se constata la presencia de olleros en la Baronía, a principios del siglo XVIII. Modeling of Melt Flow and Heat Transfer in Stationary Gas Tungsten Arc Welding with Vertical and Tilted Torches

A 3D numerical simulation was conducted to study the transient development of temperature distribution in stationary gas tungsten arc welding with filler wire. Heat transfer to the filler wire and the workpiece was investigated with vertical (90°) and titled (70°) torches. Heat flux, current flux, and gas drag force were calculated from the steady-state simulation of the arc. The temperature in the filler wire was determined at three different time intervals: 0.12 s, 0.24 s, and 0.36 s.
