Cytochromes P450 (CYP450s) promote the biosynthesis of steroid hormones with major impact on the onset of diseases such as breast and prostate cancers. By merging distinct functions into the same catalytic scaffold, steroidogenic CYP450s enhance complex chemical transformations with extreme efficiency and selectivity. Mammalian CYP450s and their redox partners are membrane-anchored proteins, dynamically associating to form functional machineries. Mounting evidence signifies that environmental factors are strictly intertwined with CYP450s catalysis. Abstract Aims IL-17A plays a key role in the persistence of airway inflammation, oxidative stress, and reduction of steroid-sensitivity in COPD. We studied the effect of IL-17A on chromatin remodeling and IL-8 production. Rapamycin stimulates arginine influx through CAT2 transporters in human endothelial cells

In endothelial cells Tumor Necrosis Factor-alpha (TNFalpha) stimulates arginine transport through the increased expression of SLC7A2/CAT2 transcripts. Here we show that also rapamycin, an inhibitor of mTOR kinase, stimulates system y(+)-mediated arginine uptake in human endothelial cells derived from either saphenous (HSVECs) or umbilical veins (HUVECs). When used together with TNFalpha, rapamycin produces an additive stimulation of arginine transport in both cell models. These effects are observed also upon incubation with AICAR, a stimulator of Adenosine-Monophosphate-dependent-Protein Kinase (AMPK) that produces a rapamycin-independent inhibition of the mTOR pathway. ALMA spectral survey of Supernova 1987A – molecular inventory, chemistry, dynamics and explosive nucleosynthesis

We report the first molecular line survey of Supernova 1987A in the millimetre wavelength range. In the ALMA 210--300 and 340--360 GHz spectra, we detected cold (20--170 K) CO, 28SiO, HCO+ and SO, with weaker lines of 29SiO from ejecta. This is the first identification of HCO+ and SO in a young supernova remnant. We find a dip in the J=6--5 and 5--4 SiO line profiles, suggesting that the ejecta morphology is likely elongated. The difference of the CO and SiO line profiles is consistent with hydrodynamic simulations, which show that Rayleigh-Taylor instabilities cause mixing of gas, with heavier elements much more disturbed, making more elongated structure. Glioblastoma cells produce and release high amounts of glutamate into the extracellular milieu and subsequently can trigger seizure in patients. THE CAUCHY DUAL AND 2-ISOMETRIC LIFTINGS OF CONCAVE OPERATORS

We present some 2-isometric lifting and extension results for Hilbert space concave operators. For a special class of concave operators we study their Cauchy dual operators and discuss conditions under which these operators are subnormal. In particular, the quasinormality of compressions of such operators is studied.

Interleukin-17A promotes the growth of human germinal center derived non-Hodgkin B cell lymphoma

Interleukin (IL)-17A belongs to IL-17 superfamily and binds the heterodimeric IL-17 receptor (R)(IL-17RA/IL-17RC). IL-17A promotes germinal center (GC) formation in mouse models of autoimmune or infectious diseases, but the role of IL-17A/IL-17AR complex in human neoplastic GC is unknown. Symmetric expansion of neural stem cells from the adult olfactory bulb is driven by astrocytes via WNT7A.

Adult neural stem cells (NSCs) located in the subventricular zone (SVZ) persistently produce new neurons destined to the olfactory bulb (OB). Recent research suggests that the OB is also a source of NSCs that remains largely unexplored. Using single/dual-labeling procedures, we address the existence of NSCs in the innermost layers of the OB. In vivo, these cells are more quiescent that their SVZ counterparts, but after in vitro expansion, they behave similarly. Self-renewal and proliferation assays in co-culture with niche astrocytes indicate that OB-glia restricts NSC activity whereas SVZ-glia has the opposite effect. A Lebesgue-type decomposition for non-positive sesquilinear forms

A Lebesgue-type decomposition of a (non necessarily non-negative) sesquilinear form with respect to a non-negative one is studied. This decomposition consists of a sum of three parts: two are dominated by an absolutely continuous form and a singular non-negative one, respectively, and the latter is majorized by the product of an absolutely continuous and a singular non-negative forms. The Lebesgue decomposition of a complex measure is given as application.
