Clarifying Communication Professionals’ Tasks In Contributing To Organizational Decision Making

The purpose of this paper is to discuss the tasks through which communication professionals and public relations contribute to organizational decision making. In-depth interviews were conducted with Finnish public relations professionals about how they contribute to organizational decision making. The findings provide a rich picture of the tasks in relation to this. The results show that public relations professionals contribute to organizational decision-making processes by nine different tasks. Large eddy simulation model for wind-driven sea circulation in coastal areas

Abstract. In the present paper a state-of-the-art large eddy simulation model (LES-COAST), suited for the analysis of water circulation and mixing in closed or semi-closed areas, is presented and applied to the study of the hydrodynamic characteristics of the Muggia bay, the industrial harbor of the city of Trieste, Italy. The model solves the non-hydrostatic, unsteady Navier–Stokes equations, under the Boussinesq approximation for temperature and salinity buoyancy effects, using a novel, two-eddy viscosity Smagorinsky model for the closure of the subgrid-scale momentum fluxes. Global Estimation of Soil Moisture Persistence with L and C-Band Microwave Sensors

© 2018 IEEE Measurements of soil moisture are needed for a better global understanding of the land surface-climate feedbacks at both the local and the global scale. Satellite sensors operating in the low frequency microwave spectrum (from 1 to 10 GHz) have proven to be suitable for soil moisture retrievals. TCP Performance in Mobile Ad hoc Networks

International audience; In this paper, we present a survey of TCP (Transmission Control Protocol) protocol for better performance in the MANET (Mobile Ad Hoc Network). After a short presentation of the main features of TCP, we give the most important problems from which TCP suffer in MANET. We present after that some approaches proposed in the literature in order to improve its performance. Our paper contains also a performance evaluation of TCP NewReno and TCP Vegas transport protocols under AODV and DSR routing protocols. The simulations are conducted under varying conditions of number of TCP connections, number of nodes and mobility.

Remote sensing of vegetation dynamics in agro-ecosystems using smap vegetation optical depth and optical vegetation indices

The ESA's SMOS and the NASA's SMAP missions, launched in 2009 and 2015, respectively, are the first two missions having on-board L-band microwave sensors, which are very sensitive to the water content in soils and vegetation. Focusing on the vegetation signal at L-band, we have implemented an inversion approach for SMAP that allows deriving vegetation optical depth (VOD, a microwave parameter related to biomass and plant water content) alongside soil moisture, without reliance on ancillary optical information on vegetation. On the Use of the Eddy Covariance Latent Heat Flux and Sap Flow Transpiration for the Validation of a Surface Energy Balance Model

Actual evapotranspiration is assessed via surface energy balance at an hourly rate. However, a robust estimation of daily evapotranspiration from hourly values is required. Outcomes of surface energy balance are frequently determined via measures of eddy covariance latent heat flux.
