Teacher emotional support in relation to social competence in preschool classrooms

The present study aimed to investigate the associations between teachers’ observed emotional support and social competence among Finnish pre-schoolers (6-year-olds). The quality of emotional support was observed using the Classroom Assessment Scoring System Pre-K in 47 preschool classrooms twice across the preschool year. Teachers rated children’s social competence in autumn and again in spring, using the Multisource Assessment of Social Competence Scale (MASCS), which produced sum scores for cooperating skills, empathy, impulsivity, and disruptiveness. Käsittelen tässä artikkelissa 1800-luvun lopun luku- ja kirjoitustaitoisten suomalaisten käsityksiä ärtymyksen kaltaisten tunteiden julkisesta ilmaisusta. Käytän tutkimuksen pääaineistona 1890-luvun sanoma- ja aikakauslehtiartikkeleita sekä yleisönosastokirjoituksia. Artikkelini osoittaa, että ärtymyksen kaltaisten tunteiden hillintää arvostettiin, mutta käytännön tasolla ihmiset saattoivat käyttäytyä hyvinkin aggressiivisesti yleisönosastoilla, erityisesti puolustaessaan henkilökohtaista tai kollektiivista kunniaansa. Työn tavoite on yhtenäistää Juutinrauman tullitiliaineistoja ja arvioida tullitilien käytettävyyttä Suomen ulkomaankaupan tutkimuksessa. Yhtenäistettyjen aikasarjojen pohjalta voidaan myös tarkastella Suomen – aikaisempaan tutkimukseen verrattuna pidemmän – pitkän aikavälin ulkomaankaupan kehitystä. Työssä rakennetaan uusi Suomea koskeva tietokanta FIN-STRO. Taustateoriana on siten lähtökohtaisesti ankkuroitua teoriaa (aineistopohjainen teoria, grounded theory) muistuttava lähestymistapa. The paper presents a microsimulation approach for assessing the safety performance of turbo-roundabouts where Cooperative Autonomous Vehicles “CAVs” have been introduced into the traffic mix alongside conventional vehicles “CVs”. Based on the analysis of vehicle trajectories from VISSIM and subsequent analysis of traffic conflicts through the Surrogate Safety Assessment Model (SSAM), the research aims to evaluate the safety benefits of turbo-roundabouts where the lanes are physically separated by raised curbs, compared to roundabouts without such curbs. Tässä pro gradu -tutkielmassa tarkastellaan suomalaisia taikuutta käsitteleviä tutkimuksia 1700-luvulta 1920-luvulle. Painopiste on väitöskirjoissa, mutta myös muita tutkimuksia on otettu tarkasteltavaksi mikäli ne ovat olleet kokonaisuuden kannalta olennaisia. Tutkimuksen tavoitteena on selvittää, kuinka taikuutta on Suomessa tutkittu ja kuinka tutkijat ovat taikuuteen suhtautuneet. Aihetta käsitellään diskurssien avulla ja tutkitaan, minkälaisia diskursseja eri vuosisatojen taikuustutkimuksista löytyy.
