Abstract:This study aims to explore working memory in preschool children with and without low mathematical performance. The sample consisted of 255 children aged 5-6 years, to whom were administered neuropsychological tests of working memory and TEDI-MATH to estimate the mathematical performance. The results highlight the capacity of verbal working memory to significantly differentiate groups of children with and without problems in 8 of the 9 analyzed mathematical domains. This factor together with visuospatial working memory differentiate the group of children at risk for mathematical learning disabilities.Keywords: working memory, preschool, math performance, mathematics learning disabil…

Abstract Understanding of the mutual developmental dynamics between burnout and work engagement is limited due to the lack of longitudinal studies with long follow-ups and multi-wave data. This study sought to identify subgroups of employees characterized by long-term exhaustion-vigor (energy continuum) and cynicism-dedication (identification continuum). Our goal is to adapt the Gratitude Questionnaire–20 Items (G20) to the English language by using data collected through a crowdsourcing platform. Prospective mathematics teachers’ self-referential metaphors as indicators of the emerging professional identity

Ideals play a key role in a student teachers’ identity work. They form targets to strive for and a mirror for reflection. In this paper, we examine Finnish mathematics student teachers’ metaphors for the teacher’s role (N= 188). We classified the metaphors according to a model that identified teachers as subject matter experts, didactical experts, and pedagogical experts, with the addition of another two categories, self-referential and contextual. El presente trabajo tiene como objetivo examinar el poder predictivo de variables del sistema motivacional sobre las habilidades iniciales de lectura y matemáticas en una muestra de niños de Educación Infantil. Participaron 209 preescolares (5-6 años) y sus maestros. Se evaluaron las  habilidades matemáticas de conteo, conocimiento de los números, cálculo y resolución de problemas. Para determinar el rendimiento en lectura se administraron tareas de identificación de letras y de lectura de palabras.
