Polymorphism and Metallic Behavior in BEDT-TTF Radical Salts with Polycyano Anions
2012
Up to five different crystalline radical salts have been prepared with the organic donor BEDT-TTF and three different polynitrile anions. With the polynitrile dianion tcpd2− (=C[C(CN)2]32−), two closely related radical salts: α'-(ET)4tcpd·THF (1) (THF = tetrahydrofurane) and α'-(ET)4tcpd·H2O (2) have been prepared, depending on the solvent used in the synthesis. With the mono-anion tcnoetOH− (=[(NC)2CC(OCH2CH2OH)C(CN)2]−) two polymorphs with similar physical properties but different crystal packings have been synthesized: θ-(ET)2(tcnoetOH) (3) and β''-(ET)2(tcnoetOH) (4). Finally, with the mono-anion tcnoprOH− (=[(NC)2CC(OCH2CH2CH2OH)C(CN)2]−) we have prepared a metallic…
Case-specific performance of MM-PBSA, MM-GBSA, and SIE in virtual screening.
2015
In drug discovery the reliable prediction of binding free energies is of crucial importance. Methods that combine molecular mechanics force fields with continuum solvent models have become popular because of their high accuracy and relatively good computational efficiency. In this research we studied the performance of molecular mechanics generalized Born surface area (MM-GBSA), molecular mechanics Poisson-Boltzmann surface area (MM-PBSA), and solvated interaction energy (SIE) both in their virtual screening efficiency and their ability to predict experimentally determined binding affinities for five different protein targets. The protein-ligand complexes were derived with two different app…
Suomalaisten nuortenromaanien kotoutumisprosessien representaatiot 1990- ja 2000-luvuilla
2011
Työn tarkastelukohteena on nuoren monikulttuurisen maahanmuuttajan kotoutumisprosessin kuvauksen kulku 1990- ja 2000-luvuilla julkaistuissa suomalaisten kirjailijoiden kirjoittamissa nuortenromaaneissa. Tutkimuksen aineistomateriaalina on neljätoista nuortenromaania, joista on poimittu yksitoista riittävän rikkaasti ja omaäänisesti kuvattua maahanmuuttajahenkilöhahmoa, joiden kotoutumisprosessin kulkua on tutkimusosuudessa analysoitu. Analyysia varten jokaiselle maahanmuuttajahenkilöhahmolle on tutkimuksessa luotu oma kotoutumisprofiili. Työn teoriaosa on luonteeltaan synteettinen ja laadullinen. Siinä tarkastellaan aluksi suomalaista maahanmuuttoa ja kotoutumis- tai akkulturaatioprosesseja…
Politisoitu rajaseutu : Lectio praecursoria 24.8.2012
2012
Antti Räihän Suomen historian väitöskirja Jatkuvuus ja muutosten hallinta. Hamina ja Lappeenranta Ruotsin ja Venäjän alaisuudessa 1720−1760-luvuilla tarkastettiin 24.8.2012 Jyväskylän yliopistossa. Vastaväittäjänä toimi tutkija Kari-Matti Piilahti Helsingin yliopistosta ja kustoksena professori Petri Karonen Jyväskylän yliopistosta.
Differences in Motivation to Engage in Sexual Activity Between People in Monogamous and Non-monogamous Committed Relationships
2021
This study compared motivations to engage in sex between monogamous and non-monogamous respondents (n = 1,238, out of which 641 monogamous and 596 non-monogamous respondents; women—47.4%, men—50.9%, other gender—1.7%; age: M = 27.78 years, SD = 7.53, range = 18–62). The research aim was to identify whether there are differences in self-reported reasons to engage in sexual activity between these two groups. Presented with 17 reasons to engage in sexual activity, the respondents rated the frequency with which they engage in sex for each reason. While both monogamous and non-monogamous respondents reported to engage in sex with the same frequency for the reasons of sexual release and physical …
“Developing Capabilities”. Inclusive Extracurricular Enrichment Programs to Improve the Well-Being of Gifted Adolescents
2021
The educational inclusion of gifted students requires not only equity but also emotional accessibility and social participation. However, different studies indicate that gifted students constitute a vulnerable group (for example, the incidence of bullying is higher). Psychosocial variables are determinants for the development and expression of giftedness, particularly during adolescence. This study analyzes the impact of an inclusive extracurricular enrichment program for gifted secondary school students on the well-being of adolescents. The program was based on the enrichment model of Renzulli and Reis (2016). The objective was to develop a cluster to facilitate high-achieving learning in …
Teenage motherhood and the evaluation of relationships in the family of origin in mothers in their early adulthood
2019
BackgroundThe objective of this study was to evaluate the relationships in the family of origin in a sample of mothers who had their first child as teenagers (off-time motherhood). We also sought to answer the following question: are there any differences in the evaluation of relationships between mothers who gave birth to their first child in their teens and those who had their first baby during women’s best fertility age (on-time motherhood)? For women, the optimum reproductive age is anywhere between 20 and 30 years of age.Participants and procedureThe study looked at 60 mothers, including 30 off-time mothering and 30 on-time mothering. Two research tools were used in the study: an own s…
MOTIVACIÓN Y ESTILO ATRIBUCIONAL SOBRE EL RENDIMIENTO ACADÉMICO EN EDUCACIÓN INFANTIL
2016
