Bridges between people: nonverbal mediation in an intercultural perspective and training proposals

Starting from the meaning of terms prejudices and mediation, the paper will deal with the theme of “intercultural mediation”, discussing aspects that characterize it, focusing on the non-verbal and creative elements. In questo saggio si traccia un profilo della studiosa, pedagogista e filosofa palermitana Fanny Giambalvo considerando vita e opere e tenendo insieme testimonianza affettiva ed elaborazione concettuale. Parallelamente viene condotta una riflessione sulla tradizione culturale siciliana in ambito formativo e filosofico, a partire da un’analisi di alcuni temi cari alla Giambalvo. In particolare vengono delineati alcuni tratti che si legano alla sua persona sul piano umano e culturale, si intrecciano tra loro e si inseriscono nella tradizione intellettuale siciliana che dagli anni venti del‘900 arriva fino ai nostri giorni.

AbstractCurrently, the ‘time’ variable has taken on the function of instructional and pedagogical innovation catalyst, after representing-over the years-a symbol of democratisation, learning opportunity and instruction quality, able to incorporate themes such as school dropout, personalisation and vocation into learning. Maintaining high-quality teaching and learning in the times of a pandemic poses a huge challenge to education systems.
