Does using a visual-representation tool foster students’ ability to identify forces and construct free-body diagrams?
2013
Earlier research has shown that after physics instruction, many students have difficulties with the force concept, and with constructing free-body diagrams (FBDs). It has been suggested that treating forces as interactions could help students to identify forces as well as to construct the correct FBDs. While there is evidence that identifying interactions helps students in quantitative problem solving, there is no previous research investigating the effect of a visual-representation tool—an interaction diagram (ID)—on students’ ability to identify forces, and to construct the correct FBDs.We present an empirical study conducted in 11 Finnish high schools on students (n ¼ 335, aged 16) takin…
Dialogioppiminen ryhmä- ja yksilötasoilla hoitotyön kontekstissa
2000
Artikkelissa dialogioppimista on tulkittu hoitotyön oppimisen ja opettamisen erilaisissa käytänteissä. Käsitys dialogista perustuu Bahtinin puheen teoriaan, jossa näkökulmien vastakkaisuutta pidetään dialogin syntymisen ehtona. Käsitys oppimisesta perustuu kontekstuaaliseen näkemykseen, jossa oppimisen kohteeksi rajataan arkitodellisuus ja sieltä nousevat ongelmat. Koska arjen ristiriitaiset käytänteet kiinnittyvät erilaisiin ajattelu- ja toimintamalleihin, puheesta on etsitty historiallisia ääniä, vakiintuneiksi muodostuneita hoitamisen ja oppimisen muotoja. Tarkoituksena on ollut selvittää, millaisten dialogien avulla näistä erilaisista äänistä rakennetaan jaettua ja yksilöllistä tietämys…
Interaction between students and class teachers in vocational education and training: ‘Safety distance is needed’
2020
Interaction between students and teachers is fundamental and has therefore been widely studied in education. However, there have been few studies on intensive spe-cial support being provided to vocational education and training (VET) students. Firstly, the focus of this article is on students’ perceptions of interactions with their class teachers. Students (aged 17–34 years) from four Finnish vocational institutions providing intensive special support were interviewed. According to the findings, the demands students placed on their class teachers and for interactions with them were modest and their perceptions of both were favourable. Interactions seemed to be study-orientated and class tea…
Recovery of mobility function and life-space mobility after ischemic stroke: the MOBITEC-Stroke study protocol
2020
Abstract Background Stroke is a major cause of disability and stroke incidence increases with age. Stroke frequently results in permanent limitations of mobility, and, consequently, the need for the help of others in activities of daily living. In order to optimize rehabilitative efforts and their functional outcomes, detailed knowledge of the functional recovery process, regarding mobility, is needed. Objectives of the MOBITEC-Stroke study are: 1.) To characterize mobility, including lower extremity physical function (LEPF) and life space (the geospatial extent of all of a person’s movements), and changes in mobility within the first year after stroke. 2.) To identify and characterize subg…
Importance of millipedes (Diplopoda) in the autumn-winter diet of Scolopax rusticola
2019
Authors examined the autumn-winter diet of the woodcock Scolopax rusticola from 407 gizzard samples originating from Crimea and Italy, resulting in a high number of millipedes (Diplopoda) in all the samples; this prey item was particularly important in terms of weight percentage. The authors consider that calcium, highly present in millipedes, should be an important source for the woodcocks’ metabolism during the autumn-winter seasons.

Antecedentes, consecuencias y paradojas del Brexit
2018
