Recent literary manifestos claim that “the center is no longer the center” (Le Devoir 2007). Indeed, it is generally admitted that Quebec literature has been more or less independent from the French field since the 1970’s. Una de les obres que tradueix és Un llibre trist, un recull factici de tres textos de Lev Tolstoi. L'estudi comparatiu de la traducció i recepció d'aquestes obres a Europa, revela que Oller utilitzà dues fonts intermèdies franceses per traduir un dels textos, La mort d'Ivan Ilitx, i una sola font per als altres dos, Tres morts i La mort al camp de batalla. Science policy increasingly focuses on maximising societal benefits from science and technology investments, but often reduces those benefits to activities involving codifying and selling knowledge, thereby idealising best practice academic behaviours around entrepreneurial superstars. This paper argues that societal value depends on knowledge being used, making knowledge's eventual exploitation partly dependent upon on whether other users-societal or scientific-can use that knowledge (i.e. on how far new knowledge is cognate with users' existing knowledge). Artikkelissa tarkastellaan Viroa melko itsevaltaisesti 1930-luvulla hallinneiden Konstantin Pätsin, armeijan ylipäällikön Johan Laidonerin ja suurimman osan Pätsin ajasta pääministerin virkaa toimittaneen Kaarel Eenpalun puheiden menneisyyspolitiikkaa. Tutkitut puheet käsittelivät Viron historiaa ennen 1800-luvun puoliväliin sijoittunutta niin sanottua kansallista heräämisaikaa. Aika muinaisen vapausajan lopusta kansalliseen heräämisaikaan on nähty kansallisesti passiivisena ajanjaksona, jolloin virolaisilla ei ollut varsinaista kansallistunnetta.
