En el presente trabajo se pretende interesar al lector en el análisis del fenómeno del alcoholismo femenino. Se tratan diversos temas como el contexto en el que se socializan las mujeres, teniendo en cuenta los cambios acaecidos en la familia como institución y el rol de la mujer en la sociedad. Otra cuestión con referencia a ese contexto es la prevalencia del consumo de alcohol en el colectivo de mujeres en España y las nuevas tendencias de dicho consumo. Se revisan brevemente los diferentes enfoques teóricos que enmarcan la comprensión e interpretación del alcoholismo, incidiendo en los aspectos de la desviación social y el control social. The article tries to highlight, despite the scarse of available documentation, the Greek and Latin studies (language and texts) in the ancient Apulian University in Altamura (1748-1821). Furthermore, on the basis of unpublished archival materials (school registers and student workbooks) it is possible to shed light on the ancient authors explained at school, the teaching methods, and the study practices.

Inuentiones and translationes of the relics are part of the hagiographic dossier of a saint and provide interesting information about his cult over the centuries. For S. Mercurius of Caesarea the original texts in Greek have been lost, but we have two collections miracles in Coptic that narrate the inuentio and translatio of his relics and there is also a medieval tradition about his translatio to Benevento (Italy). From all these texts is deduced a healing cult of S. Mercurius based on the usual topics.

One-Dimensional TiO2-B Crystals Synthesised by Hydrothermal Process and Their Antibacterial Behaviour on Escherichia coli

We have successfully synthesised one-dimensional single crystals of monoclinic phase titanium dioxide nanostructures (TiO2-B), prepared by a hydrothermal process. Morphological characterization was carried out by atomic force and scanning and transmission electron microscopy techniques. In order to study the crystalline structure, samples were calcined at 500°C in an air-filled chamber. X-ray diffraction results indicated that as-prepared samples presented diffraction patterns of hydrate hydrogen titanate and those calcined at 500°C exhibited the TiO2-B and anatase phases, confirmed by Raman spectroscopy. Missense mutations in the fas gene resulting in autoimmune lymphoproliferative syndrome: A molecular and immunological analysis

AbstractProgrammed cell death (or apoptosis) is a physiological process essential to the normal development and homeostatic maintenance of the immune system. The Fas/Apo-1 receptor plays a crucial role in the regulation of apoptosis, as demonstrated by lymphoproliferation in MRL-lpr/lpr mice and by the recently described autoimmune lymphoproliferative syndrome (ALPS) in humans, both of which are due to mutations in the Fas gene. We describe a novel family with ALPS in which three affected siblings carry two distinct missense mutations on both the Fas gene alleles and show lack of Fas-induced apoptosis.
