In the present paper a revision of some taphonomic criteria commonly used in the interpretation of fossil mollusca assemblages is realized . The field work on living and death assemblages of mollusca in a shallow muddy bottom has been carried out in the coast near Denia (Alicante, Spain). Presencia de Vulpes praeglacialis (Kormos, 1932) en el yacimiento pleistoceno de la Sierra de Quibas (Abanilla, Murcia)

We describe the first remains of Canidae from the Lower Pleistocene karstic locality of Quibas (Abanillas, Murcia) that increasing the representation of carnivores in this site. These fossils are identified as Vulpes praeglacialis, the typical Lower Pleistocene fox. This assignment is based on their small size and the poorly developed posterior cuspid of the p/3.

The Ammonites, a people living east of the Jordan River, were neighbors of the ancient Israelites. The Old Testament (1 Kings, 11,5; 2 Kings, 23,13) and probably an inscription from the citadel of Amman mention Milkom as the supreme God of the Ammonites. Most Ammonite names did not contain the name of their national god, but used a more generic divine name, ’El. We don’t know if the name: ’El refers to the Canaanite god or to a local manifestation of this deity. Ammonites also worshiped other deities (i.e. ‘Astarte, ‘Anat, Ba‘al, Hadad/’Adad, Qos, Samas, YHWH and Yerah). Oxidative stress and DNA damage in agricultural workers after exposure to pesticides

Abstract Background Recent epidemiological studies on workers describe that exposure to pesticides can induce oxidative stress by increased production of free radicals that can accumulate in the cell and damage biological macromolecules, for example, RNA, DNA, DNA repair proteins and other proteins and/or modify antioxidant defense mechanisms, as well as detoxification and scavenger enzymes. This study aimed to assess oxidative stress and DNA damage among workers exposed to pesticides. Methods For this purpose, 52 pesticide exposed workers and 52 organic farmers were enrolled. Mas d’Is (Penàguila, Alicante): farms and Early Neolithic causewayed camps in the Serpis valley

In this paper, results from recent archaeological field work carried out in the Neolithic village of Mas d’Is (Penàguila, Alicante) are presented. We focus on an important set of domestic and monumental architectural structures. Integration of data from the site in a regional context allows us to rethink the social relations of the first farmers in the area. At the same time, radiocarbon data from our excavations show a finer chronology of the neolithization in Western Mediterranean, and what is more important to approach its historical process.
