Sintaxi dels clítics pronominals en català medieval

In this article a classical topic of the studies on historical syntax is analysed: the enclitical or proclitical collocation of atonic pronouns in Catalan. From a Romanic and comparative prespective, it is shown that the clitical pronouns in Old Catalan have a very similar behaviour to the atonic ones in other Romanic lenguages such as, for instance, medieval Spanish or Portuguese, on one hand, and French, on the other. Specifically, we analyse phenomena such as: (i) pronoun collocation in connection to the verb in main and subordinate propositions, in propositions where the verb is the main constituent, in negative propositions, (ii) duplication of clitics or (iii) clitic raising.

This article emphasizes the decisive role played by Antoni de Bofarull and Víctor Balaguer in constructing the ideas and imagery which would feed Catalanist thought as well as their role in creating a Catalan national mythology. Corella i el «Tirant»: qüestions d'intertextualitat

The article points out that the presence of Corellian fragments in Tirant does not only affect his published works,but also those that were never printed and that must have been orally transmitted. The author finds evidence of oral performance, and of a constant amplifying and simplifying process of a hypo-text, which seems to reflect an ornamental, free and creative use of paragraphs that does not influence the narrative flow.

The main goal of this article is to provide evidence in favor of the phonological character of some intonational contrasts in Catalan. First, the article shows that tonal alignment differences with respect to metrically strong positions are crucial for the distinction between a yes-no question and a wh-question (cf. "¿Que l’ha llogada?" vs. "¿Qui l’ha llogada?") and between a command and a request ("¡Vine!" vs. "¡Vine!") in Central Catalan. Second, the article reports the major results from the application of the Categorical Perception Paradigm to a pitch height contrast in Majorcan Catalan (Vanrell 2006a). This paper discusses a case of parametric variation between Catalan and Spanish that concerns the fronting possibilities within the CP domain (the so-called ÇLeft PeripheryÈ). In particular, attention is paid to Catalan’s weak left peripheral activity, which prevents it from generating sentences that involve a Çmild focalizationÈ pattern very common in Spanish (e.g., «Mucha tontería dice el Gobierno» vs. *«Molta ximpleria diuel Govern»), first noted by Torrego (1980) and further explored by Uriagereka (1988). This paper reviews the basic concepts related to notions of variation and functional variation, in particular register, and it questions whether these concepts have been taken into account by the lexicographic tradition. The paper focuses on which are the most suitable marks to recognize several aspects connected with the usage of lexical items: on the one hand the field (topic), the mode (channel), the tenor (purpose), and the tone (formality), as the register’ s components; and on the other hand, various factors concerning cultural, enunciative, and textual grounds.

En aquest article es presenta una comparació crítica detallada dels llenguatges que va posar en joc Josep Carner en dues versions diferents d’El malalt imaginari de Molière. La primera, publicada l’any 1909, havia estat feta el 1905 per a una producció d’Adrià Gual; la segona va aparèixer el 1921 en una col·lecció d’obres literàries en traducció que dirigia Carner mateix, la Biblioteca Literària. Neologia i gramàtica: entre el neologisme lèxic i el neologisme sintàctic

Resum: En aquest treball es mira de contribuir a objectivar el concepte de neologia sintàctica, de manera que pugui ser un recurs classificatori operatiu. La proposta és utilitzar l’expressió neologisme sintàctic per referir-nos als canvis de règim verbal que no són concomitants amb canvis semàntics (ja que llavors haurem de parlar de neologisme semàntic), i que tampoc concorren amb altres procediments neològics. En aquest sentit, un neologisme sintàctic no és un neologisme lèxic, una paraula nova, com sí que ho són els neologismes semàntics.
