Un arabisme interhispànic: «alcasser» / «alcacer»
1996
From alcacer word appearence in Llibre del mostassaf d'Elx (17th century), the author proves, with Castelló de la Plana documentation of 14th and 15th centuries, how this arabism has already been included in Catalan, for this it can't be qualified litre a Castilian word, as it has believed.
Reflexions sobre la categorització del «Cançoner satírich valencià» de Miquel i Planas
2003
This article identifies the ambitions and literary motifs of the various works in the «Cançoner» and questions the concept of “satire” for defining them as a whole. Considering the transgressions contained in it as a literary product with no subversive aim clears the way for viewing it as a set of cleverly combined elements of satire, parody and burlesque, following on from compositions like the «Col·loqui de dames» (Ladies’ Dialogue), and allowing different parodical readings from amorous and Boccaccian points of view.
Especialització i reinterpretació en les expressions idiomàtiques
1995
It can be shown that the semantic specialization of idioms is a matter of degree, and that semantic interpretation is not just a question of bottom-up compositionality or literal-to-figurative transfer: the reinterpretation processes that can be observed in idioms point to the existence of top-down and figurative-to-literal interpretations.
Literatura infantil e ideología: propuesta de análisis
2009
2015
This article scans Pedrolo's dramatic oeuvre starting from the comparative analysis of story-line and thematic aspects, characters, space and time. The final ambition is to emphasize the fact that three periods may be defined: early theatrical experiments (1954-1956), central production (1957-1963) and the last plays (1966-1977), that respond to different theatrical models.
Les partícules modals alemanyes i els seus equivalents en català des d'una perspectiva contrastiva
2001
In this paper we present a first approach to the German modal particles and their equivalents in Catalan. The German modal particles are a word group described in the German linguistics with functional criteria which does not exist in any romance language: this is also the case with Catalan. The meaning of modal particles belongs to the pragmatic level and is related to the speaker’s attitudes, but modal particles show some other discursive properties as well. Firstly, German modal particles as a linguistic phenomenon will be described. Secondly, some of their equivalents in Catalan will be established by means of comparing original literary texts in German and their translation into Catala…
Gramaticalització i funció discursiva dels verbs de percepció
2005
This paper deals with Catalan perception verbs reanalyzed as discourse markers. The study focuses on the forms «aviam, a veure» (derived from veure ‘to see’), «miri» (from mirar ‘to look’), and «escolti» (from escoltar ‘to listen’), in a corpus of electoral debate. The research shows the interrelation between semantic and morphosyntactic features, on the one hand, and between these formal aspects and the pragmatic functions of the markers, on the other hand. The analysis highlights that perception verbs as discourse markers indicate power and politeness relationships among the participants in political debates, and this use is closely related to their origin as (active/passive, visual/audit…
La biblioteca de la família Mercader de València l'any 1489

Una lectura del "Llibre de meravelles" como ars praedicandi
2007
The «Llibre de meravelles» is one of the best known works by Ramon Llull because of its literary dimension. Both this and the structure of the text correlate with contemporary texts of encyclopaedic character. However, a contextualization of the book within Llull’s production, especially in relation to his former novel (Blanquerna), can make important contributions to a new approach to the book, in order to interpret it as a manual of predication adapted to Llull’s particular conception. Which his conception is, which purpose Felix’s examples have in the book, and how the work integrates in Llull’s conception of relationships between faith and reason, is the subject of the present article.
