The effect of social information from live demonstrators compared to video playback on blue tit foraging decisions.

2019

Video playback provides a promising method to study social interactions, and the number of video playback experiments has been growing in recent years. Using videos has advantages over live individuals as it increases the repeatability of demonstrations, and enables researchers to manipulate the features of the presented stimulus. How observers respond to video playback might, however, differ among species, and the efficacy of video playback should be validated by investigating if individuals’ responses to videos are comparable to their responses to live demonstrators. Here, we use a novel foraging task to compare blue tits’ (Cyanistes caeruleus) responses to social information from a live …

Toimintaterapeuttien ja vanhempien yhteistyö toimintaterapiassa lapsille, joilla on CP-oireisto

2017

Aineisto kerättiin The Measure of Processes of Care for Service Providers -itsearviointimittarilla (MPOC-SP), jolla kysyttiin palveluntuottajilta, kuinka paljon he olivat toteuttaneet asiakaslähtöisiä toimintatapoja yhteistyössään lasten vanhempien kanssa. Tämän tutkimuksen aineisto analysoitiin SPSS-ohjelmalla. Tutkimuksen tuloksina oli, että lasta kuntouttavista toimintaterapeuteista 92 …

Spectroscopic, crystal structural, theoretical and biological studies of phenylacetohydrazide Schiff base derivatives and their copper complexes

2020

Two phenylacetohydrazide Schiff base derivatives: N’-(1-(2-hydroxyphenyl)ethylidene)-2-phenylacetohydrazide, HL1, and N’-((1-hydroxynaphthalen-2-yl)methylene)-2-phenylacetohydrazide, HL2, were synthesized. HL1 dimerizes in presence of HCl, probably via radical mechanism to give (2,2’-((1E)-hydrazine-1,2-diylidenebis(ethan-1-yl-1-ylidene))diphenol (DIM). Thermal reactions of Cu(II) ions with the two Schiff base ligands resulted in formation of the binuclear complexes [(CuL1)2] and [(CuL2)2]. The stoichiometry and structures of the reported compounds were investigated by several spectroscopic and analytical techniques. The structure of the HL1 ligand and its complex [(CuL1)2] as well as the D…

Uniqueness and reconstruction for the fractional Calder\'on problem with a single measurement

2020

We show global uniqueness in the fractional Calder\'on problem with a single measurement and with data on arbitrary, possibly disjoint subsets of the exterior. The previous work \cite{GhoshSaloUhlmann} considered the case of infinitely many measurements. The method is again based on the strong uniqueness properties for the fractional equation, this time combined with a unique continuation principle from sets of measure zero. We also give a constructive procedure for determining an unknown potential from a single exterior measurement, based on constructive versions of the unique continuation result that involve different regularization schemes.

Monte Carlo Simulations of a Clay Inspired Model Suspension: The Role of Rim Charge

2012

International audience; We present a theoretical investigation of a model clay dispersion in 1-1 salt solutions by varying the particle volume fraction and ionic strength as well as the charge distribution on the clay platelets. The platelets are modeled as discs with charged sites distributed on a hexagonal lattice. The edge sites can be positively charged while the remaining sites are negative giving rise to a strong charge anisotropy. Simulations are carried out using a Monte Carlo method in the canonical ensemble. The interactions between the platelet sites are described with a screened Coulomb potential plus a short range repulsive potential. Simulations show a complex phase behavior. …

Correlating surface forces with surface reactivity of gypsum crystals by atomic force microscopy. Comparison with rheological properties of plaster

2001

Abstract Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM) was used to image the surface reactivity as well as to characterize quantitatively the surface forces between two gypsum (CaSO 4 , 2H 2 O) crystals. Measurements on different crystal faces, which vary in morphology, structure, hydrophilicity, surface charge, were performed in both air and ionic solutions. In ionic solutions, varying the experimental parameters, the ionic nature and the concentration as well as the duration of the contact leads to the conclusion that the adhesion occurs whatever the orientation of faces. Nevertheless, the magnitude of the adhesion of a physical nature (Van der Waals and ionic correlation) depends on the surface charge d…

Lajiristeyksiä maan ääressä : lajityyppien intertekstuaalinen analyysi Kristina Carlsonin romaanista Maan ääreen

2014

Pro gradu -tutkielmani aineena on lajityyppien intertekstuaalinen analyysi Kristina Carlsonin romaanista Maan ääreen (1999). Laajassa kontekstissa intertekstuaalisuus ilmenee muun muassa lajien välisenä kommunikaationa, jo…

Space of signatures as inverse limits of Carnot groups

2021

We formalize the notion of limit of an inverse system of metric spaces with 1-Lipschitz projections having unbounded fibers. The construction is applied to the sequence of free Carnot groups of fixed rank n and increasing step. In this case, the limit space is in correspondence with the space of signatures of rectifiable paths in ℝn, as introduced by Chen. Hambly-Lyons’s result on the uniqueness of signature implies that this space is a geodesic metric tree. As a particular consequence we deduce that every path in ℝn can be approximated by projections of some geodesics in some Carnot group of rank n, giving an evidence that the complexity of sub-Riemannian geodesics increases with the step.…

Anion-driven encapsulation of cationic guests inside pyridine[4]arene dimers

2019

Pyridine[4]arenes have previously been considered as anion binding hosts due to the electron-poor nature of the pyridine ring. Herein, we demonstrate the encapsulation of Me4N+ cations inside a dimeric hydrogen-bonded pyridine[4]arene capsule, which contradicts with earlier assumptions. The complexation of a cationic guest inside the pyridine[4]arene dimer has been detected and studied by multiple gas-phase techniques, ESI-QTOF-MS, IRMPD, and DT-IMMS experiments, as well as DFT calculations. The comparison of classical resorcinarenes with pyridinearenes by MS and NMR experiments reveals clear differences in their host–guest chemistry and implies that cation encapsulation in pyridine[4]arene…
