AAS, if taken in overphysiological doses, may increase muscle strenght and lean body mass, while they don't seem to have effects on endurance performance and on fat mass. Because of the widespread use of these substances, the focus is on their related side effects. The effects on the reproductive system seem to be quite important and they may induce some changes as far as libido and (temporary) infertility are concerned. In recent years it has become clear that AAS can have significant impacts on psyche and behaviour. Studying the double-frequency heating mode in ECRIS plasma using Kα diagnostics

Despite the success of double-heating frequency in enhancing high charge state production, the underlying physics remains poorly understood. By combining three different diagnostic techniques i.e. Kα emission, optical emission and the extracted charge state distribution, it is now possible to assess the proposed explanations for the effectiveness of double-frequency heating against the experimental results. These results seem to indicate that the increase of plasma density accounts largely for the favorable behavior of this operation mode compared to single-frequency mode. peerReviewed

Emissions from metal mining activities are known to deteriorate the quality of aquatic habitats and impair the condition and reproductive potential of fish. Metal extraction by biomining methods has been considered to cause fewer emissions, but for example in Finland, the impacts of a bioheapleaching technology utilizing metal mine on the local freshwaters have been substantial. In this thesis, the impacts of the bioheapleaching mine emissions on three native fish species, brown trout (Salmo trutta) European perch (Perca fluviatilis) and whitefish (Coregonus lavaretus pallasi), were investigated. Tutkimuksen tehtävänä oli selvittää englannin kielen roolia pakolaisten kotoutumisessa Suomeen. Erityisesti huomiota kiinnitettiin englannin kielen merkitykseen kahdella kotoutumisen osa-alueella: koulutuksessa ja työelämässä. Lisäksi selvitettiin pakolaisten omia tavoitteita kotoutumiselle. Tutkimukseen osallistui kymmenen (10) täysi-ikäistä pakolaista kolmesta keskisuuresta kaupungista. Tutkimukseen osallistujat ovat yhtä poikkeusta lukuun ottamatta kaikki miehiä keski-iältään 33,4 vuotta. Enemmistö tutkittavista puhuu englantia parhaiten äidinkielensä jälkeen. Tutkimuksessa selvitettiin, kuinka usein ja millaisten vaatimusten edessä suomalaiset johtajat kohtaavat työssään eettisesti haastavia tilanteita ja niiden aiheuttamaa kuormittavuutta. Lisäksi tutkittiin, ovatko johtajien kokemukset eettisestä kuormittavuudesta yhteydessä heidän työhyvinvointiinsa (työuupumukseen ja työn imuun). Johtajien yksilölliset ja organisatoriset taustatekijät huomioitiin ilmiöiden tarkastelussa. Kyselytutkimukseen osallistui 902 johtajaa syksyllä 2009. Tutkitut edustivat keski- ja ylintä johtoa ja suurin osa oli miehiä (70 %). Tutkittujen ikä vaihteli 25 ja 68 vuoden välillä (ka = 46,4, kh = 9,29). This paper describes an empirical approach designed and adopted to analyze and qualify the role of some public agencies devoted to rural development. These public organizations operate as critical agents in managing local public goods within a complex relation system functioning on a rural area. In this article I develop the concept of kinekphrasis to designate a particular form of intermediality, speci cally, the verbal representation of cinema or other form of moving image. Kinekphrasis builds upon ekphrasis, the classical rhetorical term that today generally refers to texts about static artworks, such as paintings and statues. Representing the medial complex of cinema, however, sets a distinct sensorial and semiotic challenge to a text and brings about a form of intermediality di erent from the traditional ekphrasis.
