Iron is an essential micronutrient for most living beings since it participates as a redox active cofactor in many biological processes including cellular respiration, lipid biosynthesis, DNA replication and repair, and ribosome biogenesis and recycling. However, when present in excess, iron can participate in Fenton reactions and generate reactive oxygen species that damage cells at the level of proteins, lipids and nucleic acids. Organisms have developed different molecular strategies to protect themselves against the harmful effects of high concentrations of iron. During digital transformation, companies integrate digital technologies creating large and complex digital infrastructures. These digital infrastructures hold combinatory affordances enabling companies to achieve outcomes that are more than the sum of their parts (i.e., the individual digital technologies). Volatiliteetti ja tuotot pohjoismaisilla osakemarkkinoilla

Tämän työn tarkoituksena on selvittää, onko Pohjoismaissa havaittavissa alhaisen volatiliteetin anomaliaa ja tutkia volatiliteetin ja osaketuottojen suhdetta. Volatiliteettia mitataan osaketuottojen yhtiökohtaisella (idiosynkraattisella) volatiliteetilla, sekä yksinkertaisella volatiliteetilla. Tutkimuskysymystä tarkastellaan muodostamalla portfolioita osaketuotoista volatiliteetin mukaan. Käytettävä aineisto on Pohjoismaisilta osakemarkkinoilta vuosilta 1990–2013. Tämä tutkielma käsittelee sukupuolivähemmistöjen representaatiota kolmessa sanomalehdessä. Suomessa sukupuolivähemmistöjä (transihmiset ja transvestiitit) on tutkittu mediassa hyvin vähän, uutistekstissä tuskin ollenkaan. Tutkielma etsii vastausta paitsi siihen, millaisia representaatioita sukupuolivähemmistöistä käytetään, myös siihen, kenellä on oikeus sukupuolensa mukaiseen ja sukupuoltaan kunnioittavaan representaatioon. Tutkielman lähtökohtana on queer-tutkimus sisarteoria transgender studies, joka on kiinnostunut sukupuolten epätyypillisyydestä. Tutkimuksen tarkoituksena on selvittää, millaisia mediarepresentaatioita Suomen ensimmäisenä naispääministerinä toimineesta Anneli Jäätteenmäestä mediassa muodostetaan ja miten median tapa kuvata poliitikkoja on sukupuolittunut. Näitä mediarepresentaatioita eli mediaesityksiä tarkastellaan konstruktivistisesta näkökulmasta. Tutkimuksen teoria nojaa feministiseen politiikan tutkimukseen sekä feministiseen mediatutkimukseen. Calibration of in situ chlorophyll fluorometers for organic matter

AbstractOrganic matter (OM) other than living phytoplankton is known to affect fluorometric in situ assessments of chlorophyll in lakes. For this reason, calibrating fluorometric measurements for OM error is important. In this study, chlorophyll (Chl) fluorescence was measured in situ in multiple Finnish lakes using two sondes equipped with Chl fluorometers (ex.470/em.650–700 nm). OM absorbance (A420) was measured from water samples, and one of the two sondes was also equipped with in situ fluorometer for OM (ex.350/em.430 nm).
