Abstract This paper exhibits varied methods for voltage security assessment in a restructured power system. This paper primarily lays emphasis on two methods that are Probabilistic Fuzzy Decision Tree (PFDT) and Case Based Reasoning (CBR). In PFDT, Decision Tree plays an integral role for classification of system. Abstract In this paper, solar photovoltaic hosting capacity within the electrical distribution network is estimated for different buses, and the impacts of high PV penetration are evaluated using power hardware-in-loop testing methods. It is observed that the considered operational constraints (i.e. voltage and loadings) and their operational limits have a significant impact on the hosting capacity results. However, with increasing photovoltaic penetration, some of the network buses reach maximum hosting capacity, which affects the network operation (e.g. bus voltages, line loading). Control of ultra-high switching frequency power converters using virtual flux-based direct power control

This paper presents a control technique for ultra-high switching frequency rectifiers known as virtual flux-based direct power control (VF-DPC). This method utilizes AC voltage sensors to provide better power quality at the input and output of power converters. Performance of an ultra-high switching frequency converter using the extended and conventional VF-DPC method is analyzed. The analysis has shown that the extended VF-DPC method can reduce better the total harmonic distortion (THD) of input currents and the ripples of the output DC voltage as compared to conventional VF-DPC. Polluting loads detection in power systems: a decision-making strategy based on nonactive power measurements

In this paper a novel decision-making strategy is proposed for the detection of polluting loads in three-phase power systems. It makes use of simple indices, which are expressed as a function of some nonactive power quantities, previously proposed by the authors and derived from the approach of the IEEE Std. 1459–2000. The decision-making rules for the proposed strategy are presented and discussed, by means of some simulation tests.

In this paper, a new approach is proposed for the detection of harmonic sources in polluted power systems. It is a single- point strategy, based on a comparison among different "nonactive" power quantities proposed in literature that, in the same working conditions, assume different values at the same metering section. A Time-Domain Approach Based on the IEEE Std 1459-2000 for the detection of Loads Producing Harmonic Distortion

This paper presents a novel strategy for the detection of harmonic sources in power systems for both the single-phase and the three-phase systems. It is based on the IEEE Std. 1459-2000 approach and it is based only on the separation of the fundamental components from the harmonic content of voltage and current. The proposed strategy do not require any spectral analysis of voltages and currents and it can be entirely implemented in the time domain. Detection of disturbing loads in distorted and/or unbalanced power systems: a technique based on a comparison among nonactive powers

This paper presents an innovative technique for the detection of disturbing loads in distorted power systems. It is a single-point strategy, based on a comparison among different "nonactive" power quantities already proposed in literature, that are measured at the same metering section. In the paper, the results obtained with the application of the proposed technique are compared with those of other techniques for the monitoring of the harmonic pollution, both single-point and multi-point. Moreover, the effectiveness of the strategy is discussed, considering also the errors of the measurement transducers.
