The chemical composition of rainwater was studied in two highly-industrialised areas in Sicily (southern Italy), between June 2018 and July 2019. The study areas were characterised by large oil refining plants and other industrial hubs whose processes contribute to the release of large amounts of gaseous species that can affect the chemical composition of atmospheric deposition As in most of the Mediterranean area, rainwater acidity (ranging in the study area between 3.9 and 8.3) was buffered by the dissolution of abundant geogenic carbonate aerosol. Zbadano wpływ zawartości aluminium na aktywność katalizatorów Ni-Al2O3 w procesie uwodornienia kwasu maleinowego. Aktywność katalityczną mierzono metodą potencjometryczną. Najwyższą aktywność katalityczną wykazywał katalizator zawierający 1% mol. Al. Stwierdzono obniżenie aktywności badanych katalizatorów ze wzrostem temperatury procesu uwodornienia.

Signs of impaired thiamine (vitamin B1) status in feeding-migrating Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar) were studied in three Baltic Sea areas, which differ in the proportion and nutritional composition of prey fish sprat (Sprattus sprattus) and herring (Clupea harengus). Las habilidades de manejo de grupo que presenten los profesionales que imparten los programas de educación afectivo-sexual para personas con discapacidad intelectual son esenciales a fin de dirigir las sesiones hacia los objetivos establecidos. Por ello, el objetivo del presente trabajo es explorar las incidencias producidas durante la aplicación del Programa SALUDIVERSEX, en función del tipo de contenido de la sesión, analizando las habilidades de manejo del grupo de los 29 profesionales (90% mujeres y 10% hombres) que aplicaron este programa. Simultaneous production of furfural and levulinic acid from pine sawdust via acid-catalysed mechanical depolymerization and microwave irradiation

Abstract In this work pine sawdust was converted into levulinic acid (LA) and furfural. Sawdust was first pre-treated with sulfuric acid-catalysed mechanical depolymerization. The conversion reactions were then performed with microwave heating at 180 °C. To enhance the furfural yield and the efficient separation of furfural and LA, a biphasic water-toluene reaction system was used. The effect of an additional catalyst, AlCl3, on the yield of LA and furfural was also studied. According to the results the pre-treatment method enhanced the yields of LA. We explored how dietary bacteria affect the life history traits and biochemical composition of Daphnia magna, using three bacteria taxa with very different lipid composition. Effect of low SO2 postharvest treatment on quality parameters of ‘Italia’ table grape during prolonged cold storage

Table grape is a non-climacteric fruit with a low rate of physiological activity, very sensitive to water loss and fungal infection (Botrytis cinerea) during postharvest handling and cold storage. Gray mold is the most aggressive postharvest disease, because of its ability to develop at low temperatures, for that reason, it is standard practice to fumigate with sulfur dioxide (SO2) immediately after packing. ‘Italia’ table grape boxes were stored at 2°C for 4 months in a storage room with low concentrations of SO2 (0.20%) to extend their postharvest shelf life.
