Interpersonal work resources and school personnel well-being before and after lockdown during the first phase of the COVID-19 pandemic in Finland

This two-wave mixed-methods study used the job demands and resources model to examine the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on school personnel's work well-being (including burnout, work engagement, and sense of belonging) in spring 2020 in Finland in particular with respect to collegial relationships (respectful engagement) and leadership support. A pre-lockdown survey was administered prior to the pandemic (in January–February, n = 437) and a post-lockdown survey was administered after the two-month lockdown (at the end of May, n = 270). Embedding Preschool Assessment Methods into Digital Learning Games to Predict Early Reading Skills

The aim of this pilot study was to explore the predictive accuracy of computer-based assessment tasks (embedded within the GraphoLearn digital learning game platform) in identifying slow and normal readers. The results were compared to those obtained from the traditional paper-and-pencil tasks currently used to assess school readiness in Finland. The data were derived from a cohort of preschool-age children (mean age 6.7 years, N = 57) from a town in central Finland. A year later, at the end of first grade, participants were categorized as either slow (n = 11) or normal readers (n = 46) based on their reading scores. La posibilidad de que estudiantes y profesores puedan investigar y exponer con total libertad todas sus preocupaciones científicas es un anhelo desde los comienzos de la universidad misma. Sin embargo, históricamente han existido distintos factores que han dificultado la plena realización de este anhelo universitario. Podemos señalar dos de sobra conocidos por todos los académicos: el financiamiento y la confrontación con los poderes públicos.
