The chemical composition of the essential oils from aerial parts of two taxa of Centaurea belonging to subgenus Acrolophus, Centaurea diffusa Lam. and C. micrantha Hoff. ssp. melanosticta (Lange) Dostàl, respectively collected in Croatia and Spain, were evaluated by GC and GC-MS. The main components of C. diffusa were hexadecanoic acid (31.1%), (Z,Z)-9,12-octadecadienoic acid (10.7%) and damascenone isomers (6.4%), whereas hexahydrofarnesyl acetone (27.8%), hexadecanoic acid (8.3%) and caryophyllene oxide (6.4%) were the most abundant components of C. micrantha ssp. melanosticta. A numerical property of Hilbert functions and lex segment ideals

We introduce the fractal expansions, sequences of integers associated to a number. We show that these sequences characterize the Osequences and encode some information about lex segment ideals. Moreover, we introduce numerical functions called fractal functions, and we use them to solve the open problem of the classification of the Hilbert functions of any bigraded algebra.

El estudio que se presenta analiza las relaciones entre actividades de la vida diaria y bienestar con la edad y el género en personas mayores. El diseño de investigación fue una encuesta transversal a una muestra de 566 sujetos residentes en la provincia de Valencia (España). Los participantes contestaron a distintas secciones incluyendo ítems sociodemográficos, una medida de actividades de la vida diaria (Índice de Barthel) y las Escalas de Bienestar de Ryff. El objetivo de este trabajo consiste en estudiar si la posición de las letras se codifica de una forma absoluta o relativa, y en particular, conocer el papel que la sílaba juega en la codificación de la información posicional dentro de las representaciones ortográficas. Para ello, empleamos dos experimentos con una tarea de solución de anagramas. En dicha tarea, se presenta un anagrama (CSIAGTO) y el participante tiene que descubrir la palabra que se forma ordenando las letras internas del anagrama (CASTIGO). Lie Algebras Generated by Extremal Elements

We study Lie algebras generated by extremal elements (i.e., elements spanning inner ideals of L) over a field of characteristic distinct from 2. We prove that any Lie algebra generated by a finite number of extremal elements is finite dimensional. The minimal number of extremal generators for the Lie algebras of type An, Bn (n>2), Cn (n>1), Dn (n>3), En (n=6,7,8), F4 and G2 are shown to be n+1, n+1, 2n, n, 5, 5, and 4 in the respective cases. These results are related to group theoretic ones for the corresponding Chevalley groups.

A series of documents helps to define the history of the genesis of an eighteenth-century church façade in Sicily: the church of San Giovanni in Vizzini. The history reveals a constant change of intentions and an empirical approach where, without necessarily proceeding to demolish the already built, the project is subjected to continuous revisions and additions. The process therefore reveals a radical alternative to the idea of an orderly succession between drawing and execution.
