Przedmiotem analizy są listy czeskiego poety Jana Zahradníčka wysyłane z komunistycznego więzienia do żony Marii w latach 1951–1960. Wybór to zapis zarówno życiowej traumy wynikającej z długo letniej izolacji oraz tragedii rodzinnej (śmierć dwóch córek), a jednocześnie świadectwo tego, że dzięki terapeutycznej roli pamięci autor przetrwał ów trudny czas. Punktem wyjścia są m. in. rozważania Aleidy Assmann, które co prawda prymarnie odnosiły się do pamięci kolektywnej społeczeństw dotkniętych traumatyczną przeszłością, ale mogą być także użyteczne dla rozpatrywanego tutaj studium przypadku jednostki.

Objective: Adolescents with anorexia (AN) and bulimia nervosa (BN) often struggle with emotion regulation (ER). These difficulties have predominantly been assessed across emotions, without considering adaptive and maladaptive ER separately.We compared adolescents with AN or BN to healthy adolescents (HCs) regarding the adaptive and maladaptive ER of three emotions. ABSTRACT The identity and functionality of biological membranes are determined by cooperative interaction between their lipid and protein constituents. Cholesterol is an important structural lipid that modulates fluidity of biological membranes favoring the formation of detergent-resistant microdomains. In the present study, we evaluated the functional role of cholesterol and lipid rafts for entry of hepatitis B viruses into hepatocytes. We show that the duck hepatitis B virus (DHBV) attaches predominantly to detergent-soluble domains on the plasma membrane. ABSTRACT We investigated the effects of internal primer-template mismatches on the efficiency of PCR amplification using the 16S rRNA gene as the model template DNA. We observed that the presence of a single mismatch in the second half of the primer extension sequence can result in an underestimation of up to 1,000-fold of the gene copy number, depending on the primer and position of the mismatch.

Topoisomerase II regulates yeast genes with singular chromatin architectures

Eukaryotic topoisomerase II (topo II) is the essential decatenase of newly replicated chromosomes and the main relaxase of nucleosomal DNA. Apart from these general tasks, topo II participates in more specialized functions. In mammals, topo IIa interacts with specific RNA polymerases and chromatin-remodeling complexes, whereas topo IIb regulates developmental genes in conjunction with chromatin remodeling and heterochromatin transitions. Here we show that in budding yeast, topo II regulates the expression of specific gene subsets.
