Jos työstä viedään lyhytnäköisen tehostamisen seurauksena oppimisen kannalta tärkeimmät ainekset eli mahdollisuus arvioida omaa työtä ja mahdollisuus sosiaaliseen vuorovaikutukseen, on vaarana, että osaamisketjut sekä niitä synnyttävät ja ylläpitävät yhteisöt rapautuvat. Vanhusten ja lasten kieltenoppimisprosessi on ollut tutkimusten kohteena jo kauan, mutta vielä työelämässä olevat aikuiset kielten oppijat ovat jääneet vähemmälle huomiolle. Tutkimukset ovat myös poikkeuksetta keskittyneet varttuneempien kielten oppijoiden kykyyn oppia kieltä sen sijaan, että tarkasteltaisiin heidän omia käsityksiään ja kokemuksiaan itsestään kieltenoppijana. Työni tarkoituksena oli selvittää, millaisia haasteita tai onnistumisia vielä työelämässä olevat ja vapaa-ajallaan englantia opiskelevat aikuiset olivat opiskelutaipaleensa varrella kohdanneet sekä millaisena he kokivat oman kielenoppija-minänsä ja kykynsä oppia kieltä. 25 vuoden ikään ehtinyt Aikuiskasvatus kysyi kaikilta aikuiskasvatuksen professoreiltamme heidän näkemyksiään neljässä asiassa. Kaikkiin ei tarvinnut vastata. The aim of this study is to respond to the educational needs of the future, considering automation and robotics. It is inevitable that automation and robotics are changing our lives and they create challenges for the future work life and education. In this study, we investigate what is the educational background of the unemployed people who are in danger of being replaced by automation and what is their educational resilience for adapting work life changes. The data of this study consist of the latest PIAAC data (The Programme for the International Assessment of Adult Competencies). The Core of Professional Growth in Work-Related Teacher Education

This paper presents a Glaserian grounded theory study of adult students’ holistic professional growth in a two-year tailored, work-related, teacher qualification program in physical education. The data consisted of reflective learning diaries, interviews and the written texts of 20 adult students. The data analysis followed the stages of Glaserian grounded theory analysis with substantive and theoretical coding processes carried out using the constant comparative method. Finnish adult students’ perspectives on short-cycle study programmes : motives and evaluations

We investigated how students in Finland perceive short-cycle higher education programmes. In line with the European trend, Finland has piloted short-cycle study programmes in order to attract adult students into higher education. We found that the students were mainly satisfied with their studies, and that their orientations to studies and learning were extrinsic in nature. The strengths of the programme were perceived as related to the flexibility of the studies, the variety of teaching methods, and the extensive contents of the studies. Artikkelissa tarkastellaan, miten aikuisten maahanmuuttajaopiskelijoiden opettajat ymmärtävät perustaidot ja opiskelutaidot sekä miten he pedagogisoivat perustaitojen opetusta arvioinnin avulla. Perustaitoja ovat luku- ja kirjoitustaidot, numeeriset taidot ja ongelmanratkaisutaidot teknologisesti kehittyneissä ympäristöissä. Aineisto kerättiin opettajien täydennyskoulutuksessa ja se koostuu opettajien laatimista arviointi- ja oppimistehtävistä sekä reflektoinneista. Aineisto analysoitiin teoriaohjaavalla sisällönanalyysilla. This qualitative metasynthesis investigated students’ meaningful learning experiences amid andragogical teacher education programmes. The programmes catered to the specific learning needs of adult students in the context of university-based teacher education. This study aimed to provide a wider picture of the frames of students’ meaningful learning in andragogical teacher education programmes. Tutkimuksen tarkoituksena oli selvittää opiskelijoiden ja opettajien käsityksiä hyvästä verkko-opetuksesta ja -opiskelusta. Tutkimuksessa keskityttiin erityisesti verkko- opettajan roolin ja tehtävien tarkasteluun. Verkko-opetusta tutkittiin osana opetus-opiskelu-oppiminen prosessia (Uljens 1997, Kansanen 1999). Hyvän verkko-opettajan ominaisuuksia etsittiin tehokkaan opettajan kriteerien (Tirri 1993), opettajan pedagogisen ajattelun ja verkko-opettajatutkimuksien lähtökohdista käsin.
