Soil organic matter (SOM) is the key for a healthy soil and a relevant property to achieve the sustainability on soil management. However, soils are still net exporters of organic matter. One example is the use of wheat straw residue for industrial and energy applications, which has gained attention in the last years. The offfarm use of this abundant and low cost resource should follow sustainability criteria to avoid soil degradation and SOM losses. Agricultural feedstock for solid and liquid biofuel production in Ukraine: cluster analysis

This study is focused on the cluster analysis of biofuel feedstock in Ukraine. In recent years, Ukraine has been facing energy issues. There was a drop in fossil fuel production. On other hand, there has been a rise in crop production. Therefore, one of Ukraine’s priorities is to develop energy application using agricultural feedstocks. The Effect of Mechanocatalytic Pretreatment on the Structure and Depolymerization of Willow

In this study, the effect of a mechanocatalytic pretreatment on the structure of willow and sugar release from pretreated willow was explored. In the mechanocatalytic approach, the pretreatment consists of solvent-free impregnation with sulfuric acid and a mechanical treatment with ball milling. Willow sawdust and pretreated samples were analyzed with field emission scanning electron microscope and X-ray diffraction. The products in the sugar solution were determined as the total reducing sugars with the 3,5-dinitrosalicylic acid method and monosaccharides with capillary electrophoresis. Celem opracowania jest zbadanie relacji między poziomem konkurencyjności rolnictwa w poszczególnych krajach Unii Europejskiej a przeciętną wielkością produkcji rolnej z 1 ha użytków rolnych. Dodatkowo w pracy podjęto próbę określenia charakteru przestrzennych zmian wielkości produkcji rolnej w podziale na sektory. W artykule skoncentrowano się na wskazaniu rosnącego znaczenia jakości infrastruktury transportowej w transporcie produktów rolnych i rolno-spożywczych. Dokonano analizy istniejącego stanu sieci dróg o twardej nawierzchni w poszczególnych województwach. Stosując taksonomiczne metody porządkowania liniowego sporządzono ranking województw ze względu na poziom rozwoju i jakość infrastruktury transportowej, do oceny której wybrano cztery cechy. Badaniem objęto lata 2010–2015, wyniki badań opracowano na podstawie danych GUS.
