The Allergic Rhinitis and its Impact on Asthma (ARIA) initiative commenced during a World Health Organization workshop in 1999. The initial goals were (1) to propose a new allergic rhinitis classification, (2) to promote the concept of multi-morbidity in asthma and rhinitis and (3) to develop guidelines with all stakeholders that could be used globally for all countries and populations. Multivariate equivalence tests for use in pharmaceutical development.

Statistical equivalence analyses are well-established parts of many studies in the biomedical sciences. Also in pharmaceutical development and manufacturing equivalence testing methods are required in order to statistically establish similarities between machines, process components, or complete processes. This article presents a choice of multivariate equivalence testing procedures for normally distributed data as generalizations of existing univariate methods. In all derived methods, variability is interpreted as nuisance parameter. The use of the proposed methods in pharmaceutical development is demonstrated with a comparative analysis of dissolution profiles.
Aharonov-Bohm effect in many-electron quantum rings

The Aharonov-Bohm effect is investigated in two-dimensional, single-terminal quantum rings in magnetic fields by using time-dependent density-functional theory. We find multiple transport loops leading to the oscillation periods of $h/(en)$, where $n$ is the number of loops. We show that the Aharonov-Bohm oscillations are relatively weakly affected by the electron-electron interactions, whereas the ring width has a strong effect on the characteristics of the oscillations. Our results propose that in those experimental semiconductor quantum-ring devices that show clear Aharonov-Bohm oscillations the electron current is dominated by a few states along narrow conduction channels.
Excited states in 31S studied via beta decay of 31Cl

The beta decay of 31Cl has been studied with a silicon detector array and a HPGe detector at the IGISOL facility. Previously controversial proton peaks have been confirmed to belong to 31Cl and a new proton group with an energy of 762(14) keV has been found. Proton captures to this state at 6921(15) keV in 31S can have an effect on the reaction rate of 30P(p,γ) in ONe novae. Gamma rays of 1249.1(14) keV and 2234.5(8) keV corresponding to the de-excitations of the first two excited states in 31S have been measured. No beta-delayed protons from the IAS have been observed. peerReviewed

Cold exposure modulates the use of carbohydrates and fat during exercise. This phenomenon has mostly been observed in controlled cycling studies, but not during walking and running when core temperature and oxygen consumption are controlled, as both may alter energy metabolism. Pinyin is an alphabetic script that denotes pronunciations of Chinese characters. Studies have shown that Pinyin instruction enhances both phonological awareness (e.g., Shu et al., Developmental Science, 2008, 11, 171–181) and character reading (e.g., Lin et al., Psychological Science, 2010, 21, 1117–1122) in Chinese children. In the present study, we provided a 3‐week Pinyin intervention with a computer‐based Pinyin GraphoGame to disadvantaged migrant children with poor Pinyin skills. Tässä tutkielmassa tutkitaan Yhdysvaltoihin sijoittavien rahastojen suoriutumista aika- välillä 01/2005-01/2016. Aineisto koostuu rahastoista, joita joko hallinnoidaan Yhdys- valloissa tai Pohjoismaissa, ja joiden sijoitukset kohdistuvat Yhdysvaltoihin. Aineisto koostuu 10:n pohjoismaalaisen rahaston ja 16:n amerikkalaisen rahaston kuukausi- tuotoista ja rahastot ovat kasvurahastoja. Tässä työssä asetetaan vastakkain amerikkalaisten salkunhoitajien ja pohjoismaalaisten salkunhoitajien osaaminen.
