Orthostatic hypotension and health outcomes: an umbrella review of observational studies

To investigate potential relationships between orthostatic hypotension (OH) and negative health outcomes and mortality, through an umbrella review with integrated meta-analyses. Orthostatic hypotension is significantly associated with several negative outcomes in older people, but a suggestive evidence is available only for higher risk of coronary heart disease congestive heart failure, stroke, falls dementia, and all-cause mortality. Aerobic exercise, such as running, has positive effects on brain structure and function, such as adult hippocampal neurogenesis (AHN) and learning. Whether high-intensity interval training (HIT), referring to alternating short bouts of very intense anaerobic exercise with recovery periods, or anaerobic resistance training (RT) has similar effects on AHN is unclear. In addition, individual genetic variation in the overall response to physical exercise is likely to play a part in the effects of exercise on AHN but is less well studied. We have used here the method of projective representations, more consistent than that of double groups. Bakalaura darba tēma ir “Datortomogrāfijas izmeklējums un protokola pielietojums subarahnoidālu saasiņojumu gadījumos”. Mūsdienu tehnoloģiju ieviešana klīniskajā praksē ir radījusi jaunas diagnostikās iespējas subarahnoidālu saasiņojumu gadījumos, kā dēļ iespējama ātra un efektīva diagnostika, apstiprinot vai izslēdzot subarahnoidālu saasiņojumu. Bakalaura darbā izvirzītā hipotēze ir: datortomogrāfijas protokols subarahnoidālu saasiņojumu gadījumos katrā medicīnas iestādē ir atšķirīgs. The relationship between oxidation state, structure, and magnetism in many molecules is well described by first-order Jahn–Teller distortions. This relationship is not yet well defined for ligated nanoclusters and nanoparticles, especially the nano-technologically relevant gold-thiolate protected metal clusters. Here we interrogate the relationships between structure, magnetism, and oxidation state for the three stable oxidation states, −1, 0 and +1 of the thiolate protected nanocluster Au25(SR)18. We present the single crystal X-ray structures of the previously undetermined charge state Au25(SR)18+1, as well as a higher quality single crystal structure of the neutral compound Au25(SR)180. …

Tutkielman tarkoituksena on selvittää, kuinka Fight Club romaanissa käsitellään transgressiivistä kaunokirjallisuutta. Tutkimuksessa hyödynnetään metodina lähilukutekniikkaa, jossa aineisto analysoidaan keskittyen transgressiivisiin teemoihin sekä narratiivisiin rakenteisiin. Tutkimuskysymyksenä on se, miten transgressiivisuus nousee esille Chuck Palahniukin Fight Club - romaanin kirjoitustyylissä. Analyysini jakautuu kolmeen osaan. A handy and accessible tool for identification of Sn(II) in toothpaste.

AbstractAn easily accessible colorimetric probe, a carbazole–naphthaldehyde conjugate (CNP), was successfully prepared for the selective and sensitive recognition of Sn(II) in different commercially-available toothpaste and mouth wash samples. The binding mechanism of CNP for Sn2+ was confirmed by UV–Vis, 1H, and 13C NMR titrations. The proposed sensing mechanism was supported by quantum chemical calculations. Selective detection of Sn(II) in the nanomolar range (85 nM), among other interfering metal ions, makes it exclusive. Moreover, Sn2+ can be detected with a simple paper strip from toothpaste, which makes this method handy and easily accessible. The potential application of this system…
