Purpose: To compare training load and energy expenditure during an 8-week military BT period among individuals having different fitness level using objective measurements in an authentic environment. Methods: Thirty-four voluntary male conscripts (age 19.1±0.3 years) were divided into three training groups (inactive, moderate, active) by their reported physical activity (PA) level evaluated by the International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ) prior to military service. Understanding the importance of the gut microbiota (GM) in non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) has raised the hope for therapeutic microbes. Abstract Objective. Heart rate (HR) monitoring provides a convenient and inexpensive way to predict energy expenditure (EE) during physical activity. However, there is a lot of variation among individuals in the EE-HR relationship, which should be taken into account in predictions. The objective is to develop a model that allows the prediction of EE based on HR as accurately as possible and allows an improvement of the prediction using calibration measurements from the target individual. With the capability of simulating charge equilibration (QEq), bonds and so on, Reactive force field (ReaxFF) enables the precise simulation of chemical reactions. Compared to the first principle molecular dynamics (FPMD), ReaxFF has far lower requirements on computational resources so that it can achieve higher efficiencies for large-scale simulations. The cost of transport (COT) in elderly subjects is increased in comparison to young adults, independently of the walking speed. The changes in the neuromuscular activity of the lower extremity muscles could explain this phenomenon. The objective of this thesis was to qualitatively compare the muscle activity pattern of the lower extremities between healthy young and elderly subjects, over a range of walking speeds in order to infer the contributions of individual muscles to changes in COT in both age groups. 26 participants were recruited (13 young aged 18-30; 13 old aged 70-80).
