Mosses as biomonitor of air pollution with analytes originating from tobacco smoke

The aim of the carried out research was the assessment of the possibility to use a popular bioindicator - Pleurozium schreberi mosses as a biosensor of the air pollution in living quarters with the analytes originating from tobacco smoke. The moss bag method of active biomonitoring, popular in environmental studies, was applied; the method is based on exposing mosses collected in clean areas in the locations polluted with, for example, heavy metals. Nordic cooperation has been depicted as eroding due to the increased importance of EU-related cooperation and integration. However, scholars propose that longstanding Nordic networks, grounded in professions and located in the state administration, may prove to be more robust toward external changes. PIP-Space Valued Reproducing Pairs of Measurable Functions

We analyze the notion of reproducing pairs of weakly measurable functions, a generalization of continuous frames. The aim is to represent elements of an abstract space Y as superpositions of weakly measurable functions belonging to a space Z : = Z ( X , μ ), where ( X , μ ) is a measure space. Three cases are envisaged, with increasing generality: (i) Y and Z are both Hilbert spaces; (ii) Y is a Hilbert space, but Z is a pip-space; (iii) Y and Z are both pip-spaces. It is shown, in particular, that the requirement that a pair of measurable functions be reproducing strongly constrains the structure of the initial space Y. Examples are presented for each case.

Plantinga’s Haecceitism and Simple Quantified Modal Logic

In a series of papers Alvin Plantinga argued for a serious actualist modal semantics based on the notions of possible world, understood as maximal possible state of affairs, and of individual essence (haecceity). Plantinga’s actualism is known as haecceitism. In spite of the fact that haecceitism has been thought by Plantinga to require a Kripke-style semantics, the aim of this paper is to show that it is compatible with constant domains semantics and the simplest quantified modal logic. I will argue that not only does this approach have all the advantages of a greater simplicity in combining quantification and modalities, but also it better conforms to the actualist program.

The paper illustrates the implementation and semantic enhancement of a domain-oriented Question-Answering system based on a pattern-matching chat bot technology, developed within an industrial project, named FRASI. The main difficulty in building a KB for a chat bot is to handwrite all possible question-answer pairs that constitute the KB. The essay focuses on the main stereotypes that have characterized the way of representing the figure of the librarian starting from classic American cinema. Hair gathered in a chignon, shirt buttoned at the neck, glasses, are elements that make the surly, solitary, shy and rude librarians easily recognizable who find their climax in the figure of Miss Anderson in Citizen Kane. In the second half of the twentieth century, however, a radical change took place in the stereotypical representation of this figure and the chignon was replaced by loose hair and the character of the harsh woman gave way to that of the sexy icon.

The Ukrainian researcher, journalist and politician came to Italy as the head of the Press-office of the Ukrainian diplomatic mission in Italy. He carried out scientific, journalistic and politic activities in the interwar period. Isoclinism in probability of commuting n-tuples

Strong restrictions on the structure of a group $G$ can be given, once that it is known the probability that a randomly chosen pair of elements of a finite group $G$ commutes. Introducing the notion of mutually commuting n-tuples for compact groups (not necessary finite), the present paper generalizes the probability that a randomly chosen pair of elements of $G$ commutes. We shall state some results concerning this new concept of probability which has been recently treated in [3]. Furthermore a relation has been found between the notion of mutually commuting n-tuples and that of isoclinism between two arbitrary groups.
On some recent investigations of probability in group theory

We describe some recent contributions on the probability of commuting pairs, introduced by P. Erdos, W. Gustafson and P. Turan around 1968 and 1973. Both combinatorial methods and character theory have significant application in this context and we illustrate some standard techniques and strategies, once generalizations of the probability of commuting pairs want to be studied. The importance of the subject is emphasized in some remarks and open questions, which reformulate some classical conjectures in group theory via a probabilistic approach.
