International audience; Due to the ability of foodborne pathogens to survive in low moisture foods, the decontamination of these products is an important issue in food hygiene. Up to now, such decontamination has mostly been achieved through empirical methods. The intention of this work is to establish a more rational use of heat treatment cycles. In winter 2015-16, norovirus GII.17 Kawasaki 2014 emerged as a cause of sporadic gastroenteritis in children in Italy. Median patient age was higher for those with GII.17 than GII.4 infection (55 vs. 24 months), suggesting limited cross-protection for older children.

Abstract Purpose The aim of this study was to establish and to evaluate an in vitro model for culturing human telomerase-immortalized corneal epithelial (hTCEpi) cells under adjustable medium flow mimicking the movements of the tear film on the ocular surface. Animals must make constant decisions whether to respond to external sensory stimuli or not to respond. The activation of positive and/or negative reinforcers might bias the behavioral response towards approach or aversion. To analyze whether the activation of the octopaminergic neurotransmitter system can shift the decision between two identical odor sources, we active in Drosophila melanogaster different sets of octopaminergic neurons using optogenetics and analyze the choice of the flies using a binary odor trap assay. Abstract Quantitative PCR by directly sampling (Cells-qPCR) has been adapted to detect and quantify total yeasts, and B. bruxellensis, S. cerevisiae and Z. bailii species, in grape musts and wines. To increase assay sensitivity, the effects of a previous cell wall lysis, by both enzymatic and mechanical methods, were evaluated. Cell wall disruption by mechanical methods showed the best results to enhance assay sensitivity. Numerous standard curves were constructed by mechanically lysed cells in culture medium, and in white and red grape musts and wines.
