Anion-Assisted Crystallization of a Novel Type of Rhenium(IV)-Based Salt

A novel rhenium(IV)–manganese(II) double salt of formula (NBu4)10[{ReCl4(ox)}3Mn]2[ReCl6] (1) (NBu4+ = tetra-n-butylammonium cation and ox2– = oxalate dianion) has been prepared through the simultaneous use of two different anionic ReIV complexes, namely, [ReCl4(ox)]2– and [ReCl6]2–, in the presence of MnII ion, the [ReCl6]2– anion playing a key role in the crystallization process. 1 has been magnetically characterized and its crystal structure determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The study of the magnetic properties reveals the occurrence of intramolecular antiferromagnetic exchange between ReIV and MnII ions. Mixtures of alkyllithium and heavier alkali-metal alkoxides are often used to form alkyl compounds of heavier alkali metals, but these mixtures are also known for their high reactivity in deprotonative metalation reactions. These organometallic mixtures are often called LiC-KOR superbases, but despite many efforts their constitution remains unknown. Herein we present mixed alkali-metal alkyl/alkoxy compounds produced by reaction of neopentyllithium with potassium tert-butoxide. On Demand One-Pot Mild Preparation of Layered Double Hydroxides and Their Hybrid Forms: Advances through the Epoxide Route.

Epoxide ring opening driven alkalinization process was explored with the aim of preparing layered double hydroxide (LDH) phases on demand, at room temperature. Employing iodide as nucleophilic agent, the precipitation reaction can be driven under much lower halide concentrations. This scenario favors the selective intercalation of concomitant bulky oxo anions as nitrate or perchlorate in the LDH products, allowing for the one-pot synthesis of an LDH able to delaminate in formamide. The stereoselective synthesis of β-branched carboxylic acid derivatives was accomplished by conjugate addition of mixed organoaluminum reagents to chiral α,β-unsaturated N-acyloxazolidinones. Mixed organoaluminum reagentswere generated in situ by transmetalation of Grignard or organolithium compounds with methylaluminum dichloride. Efficient stereocontrol was achieved using different bicyclic glycosamine-derived oxazolidinones, yielding alternatively (R)- or (S)-configured β-branched carboxylic acid derivatives.
