Patients with von Willebrand disease (VWD) and haemophilia A (HA) lack, to varying degrees, the von Willebrand factor (VWF) and coagulation factor VIII (FVIII) that are critical for normal haemostasis. These conditions in turn make patients prone to uncontrolled bleeding. Historically, patients with severe forms of VWD or HA were crippled before adulthood and their life expectancy was significantly reduced. Over the past decades, specific coagulation factor replacement therapies including Haemate P, have been developed to help patients achieve and maintain normal haemostasis. Il saggio analizza la variegata gamma di soluzioni tecniche e formali riscontrabili nella costruzione di volte reali nella Sicilia del XIV secolo, attraverso la casistica osservabile nelle cappelle platine. Dall'esame dei casi studio selezionati emerge un panorama ricco e vario, indicativo di un intreccio di esperienze e modelli di diversa provenienza, a confutare la tradizionale visione storiografica di un'isola totalmente chiusa in se stessa nel Trecento.

Inhaled corticosteroids (ICSs) are widely used in the treatment of patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases. However, high-dose regimens and long-term use of ICSs have the potential to cause a variety of local and systemic side effects such as candidiasis, cataracts, glaucoma, and osteoporosis. The use of ICSs can also be associated with the risk of bone fractures, diabetes mellitus and pneumonia. These ICS-related side effects are of particular importance in elderly patients due to the presence of comorbidities and age-related behavioral, cognitive, and psychological problems, which can all interact with inhaled treatment. Il contributo descrive le ragioni per le quali il tradizionale strumentario penalistico sia inadeguato per il contrasto dello sfruttamento del lavoro, che si atteggia piuttosto come fenomeno sistemico e - il più delle volte - è espressione di precise politiche di impresa. In quest'ottica, l'esperienza applicativa mostra come risultati più appaganti possano invece giungere dall'impiego degli strumenti della prevenzione patrimoniale.
