PROPAGAZIONE DELLA FRATTURA IN COMPONENTI SOLLECITATI DA PROCESSI ALEATORI A BANDA LARGA
2011
In this paper a method for estimating the crack propagation in components subjected to wide band random processes of loading is presented. The analysis has been carried out considering uniaxial stresses and stationary and gaussian processes. The method uses as input one parameter of the power spectral density (PSD) of the stress process, its variance and 2 parameters of the material and eliminate the need of the integration of the equation of Paris in time domain. The method has been developed by carrying out a significant amount of numerical simulations in which about a thousand different PSDs of different shapes and spectral parameters have been considered.
Eurhomalea exalbida (Bivalvia): A reliable recorder of climate in southern South America?
2012
Abstract Due to the lack of suitable high-resolution archives, regional and continental-scale climate dynamics of southern South America are not well understood. Shells of the long-lived, shallow-marine bivalve mollusk, Eurhomalea exalbida (Dillwyn), are likely to contain information on the past water temperatures. As yet, however, no rigorous calibration study has been presented so that growth history traits and the reliability of shell oxygen isotope-based temperature estimates remain unknown. Shell growth patterns and oxygen isotope ratios of four young specimens of E. exalbida from the Falkland Islands (Southwest Atlantic) were analyzed and cross-calibrated with environmental parameters…
Small vertebrates from a Holocene gravelly deposit at El Salt (Alcoi, Alicante)
2021
The small-vertebrates’ assemblage recovered comes from Units I to IV from El Salt site (Alcoi, Spain). The sample is composed by nearly 310 remains, and includes one toad (Epidalea calamita), two lizards (Lacertidae indet. and Chalcides cf. bedriagai), two snakes (Coronella cf. girondica and cf. Coronella sp.), two insectivores (Crocidura sp. and Sorex sp.), one lagomorph (Oryctolagus cuniculus) and seven rodent taxa (Arvicola sapidus, Microtus sp., M. arvalis, M. cabrerae, M. duodecimcostatus, Apodemus sylvaticus, and Eliomys quercinus). All the species described in the present work are consistent with a Late Pleistocene-Holocene chronology. The presence of M. cabrerae (absent in the Middl…
Arbiter Meta-Learning with Dynamic Selection of Classifiers and its Experimental Investigation
1999
In data mining, the selection of an appropriate classifier to estimate the value of an unknown attribute for a new instance has an essential impact to the quality of the classification result. Recently promising approaches using parallel and distributed computing have been presented. In this paper, we consider an approach that uses classifiers trained on a number of data subsets in parallel as in the arbiter meta-learning technique. We suggest that information is collected during the learning phase about the performance of the included base classifiers and arbiters and that this information is used during the application phase to select the best classifier dynamically. We evaluate our techn…
