Cloning of an alkane hydroxylase system in a long chain n-alkane- degrader Gordonia sp.

Five Gram-positive GC rich n-alkane degraders were isolated from a long-term accidentally contaminated beach in Sicily and identified as one Nocardia, two Rhodococcus and two Gordonia strains (Quatrini et al., 2008 J. Appl. Microbiol. 104:251-9). All the isolates were able to grow on long and very long chain n-alkanes up to C36. Diverging alkane-hydroxylase encoding genes (alkB) were detected by PCR using degenerated primers in all the strains. Multiple sequences were obtained from the Nocardia strain while only one alkB gene was detected in Rhodococcus and Gordonia. Five new C2-symmetric chiral ligands of 2,5-bis(imidazolinyl)thiophene (L1–L3) and 2,5-bis(oxazolinyl)thiophene (L4 and L5) were synthesized from thiophene-2,5-dicarboxylic acid (1) with enantiopure amino alcohols (4a–c) in excellent optical purity and chemical yield. The utility of these new chiral ligands for Friedel–Crafts asymmetric alkylation was explored. Subsequently, the optimized tridentate ligand L5 and Cu(OTf)2 catalyst (15 mol%) in toluene for 48 h promoted Friedel–Crafts asymmetric alkylation in moderate to good yields (up to 76%) and with good enantioselectivity (up to 81% ee). Bismuta halkogenīdi kā Bi2Se3 un Bi2Te3, pašreiz tiek īpaši aktīvi pētīti, jo nesen tika atklāts, ka bez izcilām termoelektriskajām (TE) īpašībām, tiem piemīt arī topoloģiskās īpašības. Topoloģiskie izolatori ir materiāli, kuri tilpumā ir elektriskie izolatori, bet uz virsmas tiem ir vadoši stāvokļi, kas paver iespējas termoelektriskās efektivitātes paaugstināšanā. Šajā darbā tika sintezētas Bi2Se3 un Bi2Te3 plānās kārtiņas, kā arī tās tika secīgi sintezētas viena uz otras, izmantojot fizikālo tvaiku nogulsnēšanās metodi. Tämä kandidaatintutkielma käsittelee sukupuolta ja sen roolia erilaisissa kielenkäyttötilanteissa, erityisesti juoruilussa. Tutkimuksen tavoitteena on luoda ymmärrystä ja nostaa esiin niitä ennakkoluuloja, joita yhteiskunnassa vallitsee sukupuolia ja juoruilua kohtaan. Tutkimus keskittyy löytämään mahdollisia eroavaisuuksia sukupuolien välillä, tarjoten samalla mahdollisia selityksiä aikaisemman tutkimustiedon valossa. Tutkimuksen tuloksia vertailtiin suosittuun, mutta kiisteltyyn Deborah Tannenin You Just Don’t Understand! (1990) teokseen.
