Towards the Loewenstein limit (Si/Al = 1) in thermally stable mesoporous aluminosilicates
1999
The use of complexing agents to generate polynuclear precursor species containing both Al and Si allows the synthesis of thermally stable mesoporous aluminosilicates including solely tetrahedrally coordinated aluminium, in which the Si/Al ratio can be modulated down to a minimum Si/Al value of 1.06(4). Structural analysis of W3O/WO3 and TiO/TiO2 periodic multilayer thin films sputter deposited by the reactive gas pulsing process
2012
International audience; DC reactive sputtering was used to deposit titanium and tungsten-based metal/oxide periodic nanometric multilayers using pure metallic targets and Ar + O-2 gas mixture as reactive atmosphere. The innovative technique namely, the reactive gas pulsing process allows switching between the metal and oxide to prepare a periodic multilayered structure with various metalloid concentrations and nanometric dimensions. The same pulsing period was used for each deposition to produce metal-oxide periodic alternations close to 10 nm. Structure, crystallinity and chemical composition of these films were systematically investigated by Raman spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction and Energ…
Photo-switching spin pairs—synergy between LIESST effect and magnetic interaction in an iron(ii) binuclear spin-crossover compound
2001
The decrease of the magnetic response under irradiation at very low temperature was interpreted as a new evidence of synergy between magnetic interaction and spin transition in an iron(II) binuclear SC compound. Real Cabezos, Jose Antonio, Jose.A.Real@uv.es
A novel supramolecular assembly in an iron(III) compound exhibiting magnetic ordering at 70 K
2004
Ethyl-substituted ammonium cation allows the preparation of an unprecedented oxo- and oxalato-bridged supramolecular three-dimensional network. The compound exhibits magnetic ordering with Tc = 70 K due to a weak spin canting. Julve Olcina, Miguel, Miguel.Julve@uv.es ; Lloret Pastor, Francisco, Francisco.Lloret@uv.es

Defect induced room temperature ferromagnetism in high quality Co-doped ZnO bulk samples
2021
The nature of the often reported room temperature ferromagnetism in transition metal doped oxides is still a matter of huge debate. Herein we report on room temperature ferromagnetism in high quality Co-doped ZnO (Zn1-xCoxO) bulk samples synthesized via standard solid-state reaction route. Reference paramagnetic Co-doped ZnO samples with low level of structural defects are subjected to heat treatments in a reductive atmosphere in order to introduce defects in the samples in a controlled way. A detailed structural analysis is carried out in order to characterize the induced defects and their concentration. The magnetometry revealed the coexistence of a paramagnetic and a ferromagnetic phase …
Large magnetoresistance at room temperature in the off-stochiometric chalcogenide Cr0.92Te
2006
Abstract We present the electronic and magnetic properties of the transition chalcogenide Cr0.92Te. The compound is the hexagonal counterpart to the hypothetical half-metallic ferromagnet CrTe. The off-stochiometric phase crystallizes in the hexagonal NiAs-type structure P63/mmm. New magnetotransport results show a large magnetoresistance (MR) of 5.5% at room temperature in a magnetic field of 8 T. The remarkable MR-effect can be explained with spin-dependent scattering below the Curie temperature.
Generation and characterization of T40/A5754 interfaces with lasers
2014
Laser-induced reactive wetting and brazing of T40 titanium with A5754 aluminum alloy with 1.5 mm thickness was carried out in lap-joint configuration, with or without the use of Al5Si filler wire. A 2.4 mm diameter laser spot was positioned on the aluminum side to provoke spreading and wetting of the lower titanium sheet, with relatively low scanning speeds (0.1 to 0.6 m/min). Process conditions did not play a very significant role on mechanical strengths, which were shown to reach 250-300 N/mm on a large range of laser power and scanning speeds. In all cases considered, the fracture during tensile testing occurred next to the TiAl3 interface, but in the aluminum fusion zone. In a second st…
Corrosion resistance of the FeAlC permanent magnet alloy
1998
Abstract The correlation between corrosion behaviour rate of hard magnetic FeAlC alloys and their microstructure and phase composition is presented. Potentiokinetic polarization curves of the tested material in acid (pH = 1 and 2) and neutral (pH = 7) sulphate solutions have been measured. For open-circuit condition, kinetic curves of etching of the samples in 0.5 M H2SO4 have been determined. The resistance of the tested magnets against atmospheric corrosion has been evaluated using a salt-spray test. The atmospheric corrosion rate is 1.5–2 times slower than that found for Nd-Fe-B type magnets. The FeAlC alloys show good corrosion resistance in neutral environments and corrode at rates…
Mechanical, thermal and electrical properties of monolayer and bilayer graded Al/SiC/rice husk ash (RHA) composite
2017
Abstract The mechanical, electrical and thermal properties as well as thermal expansion of Al/SiC/RHA (rice husk ash) monolayer and bilayer composite have been studied using the Taguchi method and analysis of variance (ANOVA). The parameter that most significantly affects the modulus of elasticity of Al/SiC/RHA bilayer composites is processing time, with contribution percentages of 68 and 27% calculated from stress-strain graphs and ultrasonic method, respectively. However, the factor which mostly affects bending strength, CTE value and electrical resistivity of composites is process temperature with contribution percentages of 32, 28, and 22%, respectively. The projected values for modulus…
