Multiplex Ligation-dependent Probe Amplification (MLPA)

The Multiplex Ligation-dependent Probe Amplification (MLPA) is a PCR-based method. The procedure relies on sequence-specific probe hybridization of genomic DNA, followed by multiplex-PCR amplification of the hybridized probe and a semiquantitative analysis of the resulting PCR products. MLPA allows the analysis of around 40 loci in the same reaction, and is a sensitive and relatively fast technique. Abstract Background The common marmoset monkey (Callithrix jacchus), a small non-endangered New World primate native to eastern Brazil, is becoming increasingly used as a non-human primate model in biomedical research, drug development and safety assessment. In contrast to the growing interest for the marmoset as an animal model, the molecular tools for genetic analysis are extremely limited. Hippocampal event-related potentials to pitch deviances in an auditory oddball situation in the cat: experiment I.

Hippocampal event-related potentials (ERP) in the areas CA1, CA3, and dentate fascia (Df) were recorded in cats during an oddball situation when pitch deviant tones occurred in a series of standard tones. When difference waves were calculated by subtracting ERPs to the standard tones from those to the deviant tones, no clear N40d, corresponding to a cat analogue of the human mismatch negativity (MMN) observed in earlier studies, could be detected. Instead, a prominent later negativity (N130d) was observed. A possible extra-hippocampal source of the process reflected by the MMN-like negativity, and a relation between an orienting response (OR) and the N130d are discussed.

Tutkin maisterintutkielmassani pop/jazz -musiikin perusteiden opettamiseen ja oppimiseen liittyviä erityispiirteitä. Erityisesti syvennyn afroamerikkalaisen musiikin perusteet (AMP) - menetelmään, jossa integroidaan musiikin teorian opiskelu ja yhtyesoitto. Tarkastelen erilaisia oppimiskäsityksiä ja opetusmenetelmiä kevyen musiikin perusteiden opettamisen näkökulmasta ja pyrin luomaan kokonaiskäsityksen siitä, millaiset asiat edesauttavat musiikin hahmotusaineiden oppimista. Tutkielmassa esitellään MUVO-klubi -nimisen vertaisoppimisprojektin toimintaa. Pro- jekti käynnistettiin Jyväskylän suomalaisella musiikkikampuksella syksyllä 2015. Teo- reettisena viitekehyksenä ovat konstruktivistinen oppimiskäsitys sekä erilaiset teoriat vertaisoppimisesta. Tutkielman analyysiosuus koostuu kahdesta osasta. Myoadenylate deaminase (MAD) is the rate-limiting enzyme in the purine nucleotide cycle which is biochemically linked to glycolysis and the citric cycle and thereby providing energy during intense muscular activity. In muscle fibers, myoadenylate deaminase operates at considerably higher activity levels than in other organs. First detected using enzyme-histochemical methods, it now appears that deficiency of myoadenylate deaminase is one of the most frequent enzyme defects in muscle.
